When I did my first cbg, it was a bass, using nylon weed whacker strings.  As a result, I have "a little" left over.

If anyone is interested in a set, and has "piece parts" they would like to trade like:

Nice/Interesting cigar box?
Guitar strings? (probably just the highest 4)
Tuning pegs? (guitar or bass)
Cheap pickups? (no rad shack piezos please, already got 'em)
Any other interesting misc cbg "piece parts" or materials

I'll cut more that enough of each size to string a bass and send it off to you.

At this point I'd rather trade for fun parts than sell them outright.

All are white, and appear to all be the same material.
0.130" Dia -low B at 40" scale, or low E at 34" scale
0.105" Dia - Low E at 40" scale, tried this one at a 34" scale, it seemed to work for a low A, but I didn't really "wring it out.
0.095" Dia - first try at low A at 40" scale, too thick, seemed close for a D at a 34" scale
0.080"Dia  - the string I switched to for the low A at a 40" scale, never tried this one on a 34" scale

If you can't find it in bulk, the spools of the 3 lighter ones are around $5 each, and the .130 was $9.  If you want to play with making a weed whacker bass, without having to buy full spools, and have fun piece/parts to trade, let me know.

Hey there, How does the bass sound? I could trade a Bacotte fingerboard.
They're really quiet unplugged, probably for a variety of reasons.

-I haven't cut any sound holes yet (not sure if I will).
-I think I secured too much structure to the lid of the box, so it doesn't resonate much.
-They're nylon.

I guess I could record a wav file, but that might tell you more about the electronics and amp than anything else.

Sure, I'd trade for that if you really want to, I think I might be getting the better end of the deal though.

Let me know if you want a sound bite. But beware, I'm a rookie with a fretless, and my ear might be almost as good a Van Gogh's.

But be advised, without a serious resonator, they might not be very good unplugged. Probably should have mentioned that in the original post.

ok, might have to forget about the sound bite......it's either the crappy mic on this computer trying to get down around 30-50 Hz, my little practice amp, could still be too much gain from the piezos.....in any case, I tried, but on the recording, the low end has so much growl and buzz it sounds like a dogs breakfast (at around noon).
