Good evening everyone.

My name is Sam.  I've been trolling the forum for awhile now getting information from everyone builds and I wanted to share my first couple attempts.  I'm basically new to all wood working and at this point I'm using all hand tools, saws, files, rasps, pocket knife etc. because I live in an apartment.  My first build was based around a SX tele neck I got on Ebay.  I used GFS hardware and pickups with a big fat 10K tele bridge pickup set up like an esquire.  The pick guard is probably what I am most proud of.  Its made from an old clip board.

My second build is a three stringer.  This was my first attempt at carving a neck and my goal was to use as minimal guitar hardware as possible.  This one is still a work in progress.  Will probably get a pickup soon and maybe even some frets later on.

Finally when buying strings for the three string I went to Collins Music in Richmond, TX (down street from my house) and talking to the young man in the store he told me another of their customers made CBG.  I'll bet good money whoever it is, is on this forum as well.  So anyway its good to know their may be a fellow builder in my area!

Looks like you're doing well there Sam. Great builds. I'm guessing you know a thing or two about guitars already as they look set up to play well. I'm a long way from Texas but I believe there are quite a few builders there... then again Texas is a pretty big place!

Welcome to the nation.

Sam,

Welcome to the Nation! Good to see folks from my home state (I grew up in Houston, even though I was born in Arkansas).

You may wanna join the Texas builders forum here on CBN, if you haven't already:

Thanks for the welcome!  Definitely will check out the Texas group.  Thanks for the pointer.  Richey I've played guitar for awhile now so it was a natural transition to CBGs.  I gotta say I have had some nice guitars before, but there is nothing quite like playing on something that you made from lumber ;-)

You've got it in one there brother!
