NECK WIDTH AND STRING SPACING?

hi chaps,
just trying to work out how wide i should cut my neck for my first cbg. Trying to work it out by how far i should space my strings apart. my bass guitar has about 11ishmm ( just shy of half inch ) and my les paul strings are spaced 6mm (1/4 inch) ,both at the nut.

was thinkin' about a 12mm space for my cbg ( just under 2/4 in old money ) with a 3mm each side of 1st & 3rd string makin' the neck 30mm/ 1,1/4 inch wide. ( all sounds a bit geeky)

does this sound 'bout right, i'm i way off or am i reading far to much into this???
