Natural fret positions

The common natural fret positions are at a sixth, a quarter, a third and half of the scale length, or on a 24 inch scale 4 6 8 and 12 inches. Does anyone know a simple way to get other natural fret poitions?

On my 24 inch one fret per inch vs Stewmac spacing experimental build it is easy to see the way the tempered 3 5 7 and 12 frets almost allign with the 4 6 8 and 12 inch natural positions respectively, though I must admit I was surprised by the allignment of the tempered fret 4 with 5 inches.

I am thinking a natural dulcimer type scale would be useful so I am thinking I need to know where to put a natural fret to match the second, ninth and eleventh fret? The tenth fret blue note would probably be useful too.

And the right answer is it depends if you are using a Mixolydian or an Ionian scale.

The second (first) fret is at 2.4 inches under Ionian and 2 and 2/3 inches under mixolydian.

A different fret pattern for each scale...means a dozen more guitars.
