I was thinking of getting a Line 6 Pocket Pod as a preamp for my 4 string CBG (w/piezo).  Has anyone had any experience with them?  Am I looking in the right direction for something that will help me playing gigs?

My problem is that, when I play with my band through a Fishman Solo Amp, my CBG sounds really distorted and just can't get loud enough to compete.  I like the idea of being able to produce effects as well.

I know next to nothing about electronics, and am looking for a "solution for dummies" that doesn't cost a lot.

I re-read what I wrote and realized it made it sound the Fishman Solo amp wasn't good enough for gigs. Far from it. What I meant was the CBG straight through it wasn't working well. I've got my Fishman Pro EQ II and it seems to be doing the trick. I'm not very good with electronics, so it will probably take some time to get the settings tweaked just right. By the way, my only complaint about the Pro EQ II is that I had to go out and buy a really small screwdriver to be able to adjust the sub-bass and gain. They put them on the back of the unit, probably for a good reason I don't understand, so you have to have a screwdriver to change those particular settings.
Mad Dog, I re-read what you originally wrote and realized that you were trying to say that the amp without the effects wan't giving you the sound you were looking for..... that makes sense! My cbgs all sound more like acoustic guitars through my Fishman and don't give the blues tones that I am looking for without some sort of effects device to modify the tone. I'm glad the Pro EQ II is working out for you!
