I've used the little screw in eyelets with success. If you don't like that may just have to relocate your retainer screw to fresh wood (perhaps using a longer one) and hope for the best.

Can you make a retainer that is screwed down on each side of the string ??

You can always use a piece of brass,drilled at 2 ends or either side of the middle string and screwed in.It works for me.

Use a screw. Or an eyelet. Fill the hole with white or wood glue, and break off a toothpick in the hole. That'll give the screw something to bite into, if you want to reuse the same hole.

Both are Awesome, I notice a lot of fret-less... I am really liking the slide Picking much more than the strumming
