I used to use epoxy resin, and that worked fine, but it is expensive and takes a long time to dry. Now I use super glue. It works just fine, is cheap, and sets up in about ten seconds. A lot of people use hot glue guns. I don't like to use hot glue. It takes time to heat the glue up and it's messy. But that's just my opinion. Best thing is to experiment and see what you like.

hot glue is the recommended method, though i make a round pocket in the neck, place a small piece of velcro beneath the piezo to help take the edge off the microphoney sound, and tape the edges with plastic tape, but not too tightly, the piezo needs room to vibrate. (-:

I used silicone for mine. Only because I had some laying around. It grabs instantly but takes 12hrs to go off properly. It sticks to anything. Easy to cut off once set if you need to change location.

I sit a piece of plastic waste pipe on the soundboard, half fill with hot glue, sit the piezo in,fill to top

Now that is interesting.  Gonna try this on my next build. How deep is this thing?  Always hard to tell size/depth on these pics.

The slice of waste pipe is about 1/2" deep

I found this way was less noise, it's only my opinion.

You can see that the piezo is embedded in a recessed gap with hot glue then covered again with hot glue. I find this reduces noise from the neck and when touching the box.

P.S These pick up can be cut....sometimes I get 4 or 5 pups just from one.

How are you cutting them?  Does the white part crack?

John

Doesn't seem to - I just used heavy duty sissors.

Hey Reeds - I used that method on a build - but used two - stacked and wired in parallel - I was pleased with the sound - I'm going to try a few more when I get a chance.
This should have been right under the pic of your PU - it seems to have jumped ! :-)
