Mornin all,

There are a few here, but generally just google 'Smokey', 'Ruby', and 'Noisy Crickey' and you'll find plenty.

I you download a free copy of 'DIY Layout Creator' there is an archive of schematics

do some research on car radio tubes they where used in the 40's 50's they are 12volt all dc they can make some pretty cool little amplifiers.
Ruby amp from runoffgrove.com is good but you have to build it. I also used minty amp as more of a preamp in some of my CBGs then plug the CBG into a regular amp. I use this when I do piezos to amplify and match the impedance.
I have just seen this discussion and wondered if anyone knows how to 'tap' into a car radio and disable, or leave, the radio side of it and hook it up as a 12v DC amp?
A lot of my old tape radios are 40+ watts of output and it struck me that they could be recycled as guitar amplifiers,
If it was possible to switch from radio to amp then you would have a working radio plus an amp.
I don't know the first thing about radios / amps etc. let alone wiring them so if ya got any ideas please holler.
Hogs.

Hey Hogs Grunt
If you have a tape player you can use a CD to tape adapter and then a 1/8" to 1/4" cord adapter for the guitar cord. Insert tape adapter in to tape player, plug into the guitar, push play and play.

Thanks Jason,
I will have to give that a try when I get the chance but, I am thick on this stuff and, I can't see what CD has got to do with anything. I have only got old car radios with a tape deck on it not a CD player.
Can you explain please?
Hogs.
