6 string license plate resonator CBG

Hi folks:

I'm thinking of building a resonator 6-string with a vintage 1965 license plate.  In your collective experience, will the plate be able to take the string pressure by itself, or will I need to put in braces?

Also, has anyone used the CBGitty license plate resonator kits? The bigger one with the soundholes has a certain appeal, but the price is a bit prohibitive.
