Hi everyone
Ive just got hold of a lovely cigar box but the lid must be warped as, when the clasp in locked in place oneside of the lid is not flush with the bottom of the box whlie the otherside is.
So i was hoping someone out there could sugest someway of fixing this as it realy is a great box.
Thank you for any suggestion and advice you can give
Nick

I tried once with little improvement by clamping it shut for a week or two with a
spacer under the lid and moving it around this helped but not perfect.
You could put fancy screws in the lid evenly spaced across the bottom or just on the 2 corners.
Another idea is to use the other side of the box and screw down the lid side.

Nick,
I've got one which was given to me recently, on which the lid was severely bowed due to improper storage in extreme heat. I soaked it really good in water, put it on a towel, then put a bunch of heavy weight distributed evenly on it, against the bow. I left it about 2 weeks ago; it's got at least 1 more week to go, before I can check to see how it worked out. Another way to do this would be to apply pressure and heat from a blow dryer set on High. Getting it wet is the key; you need to bend those wood fibers back to flat.

Thanks Oily, i had thought bout that way but wanted to see what everyone else does. Ive already taken the lid off and i just need to sort of something flat and heavy before i wet it down. Thats unless someone else as another idea.

Nick,
Have you got any bar clamps, and a rather large, thick piece of wood? You could get it wet, then try clamping it to a couple of flat 2X4s, or some flat square steel bar.
You could also (don't laugh) drive your car onto it on a flat surface, either the driveway, or in the garage. Leaving one of the rear wheels parked on it for, say, overnight, see how that might work...
