Yes, Pots is pots. (That is, assuming that it is the value that you want.)

wired tone & vol pot's on my git, but they are acting more like on/off switches, not gradually increasing/decreasing the vol/tone, checked the wiring that's ok, any idea what's wrong, ??

What are the values of the pots and what's the circuit? Are you using a piezo or a magnetic pickup?

If 'standard' rules apply, a tone pot will have a linear taper. Using this as a volume pot WILL work, but you'll get better results using a Logarithmic taper pot as a volume control, because our ears respond logarithmically to increases in volume.

This doesn't explain away your problem, it's just a ''what if'' post.

Post pics (good, close up in focus ones) of all your solder joints and wiring ...
