What do you mean "not sounding right... strings too tight or too loose"? What strings did you use? If the intonation is perfect, then I am not sure how it doesn't sound right.

The strings sound "loose" like there not tight enough. You can't strum hard, they don't buzz, they rattle.  lol I used A,D,G from a set of medium. Jerry Jordan suggested I use E,A,D strings instead.

I’m new too  (caveat)

i like the acoustic, wound strings for an acoustic or piezo driven amplification.   I believe Mr. Speal and CB Gity recommend this, I have found this true for me.

is there anything about the construction that is different than the 25.5 builds?

I have a few things to try. It's just everyone on youtube teaches in gdg, This has to be tuned up to open A, to sound right. Hard to explain. I've played guitar for over 50 years, so I understand a bit about them. The first three CBG's I built are all better than good with the 25.5 scale. Perhaps if I hit it with a hammer, it will straighten up and play right..lol   Thanks

Hello, try the 6th,5th,4th strings from a set instead of the 5th,4th,3rd.,.,.I build 24" scale all the time, and sometimes the string gauges favor G sharp or A more than GDg.,..,

I will try the other strings, I have a hundred old guitar strings will try first. If I go to open A, it's just about perfect. Even open C is great. Thanks, I'll give it a try. I started playing guitar in the late 50s, so I do know a bit about them.  Or I'll just build my daughter another one with a 25.5 scale. (My daughter is 53 years old, I'll get her to build her own) So I wont have a problem with GDG she needs to learn with on YouTube. Thanks, Pat
