yeah thanks Gaz, was playing with those TABS I borrowed off you from the Kenni-Lee thing and they came in handy. Have checked out Nigels vid, great stuff, maybe he could post the TABS for it.

Hi everyone

New players and children, and just anyone discovering the instrument needs tabs I agree,
and it's quite difficult to find some. Here is the link to McNally's Strumstick webpage
where you can find songs and tabs specially for 3 strings guitars

If anyone has tabs for 3 strings guitars for John Lee Hooker etc... please share them here
because it would be great to have kids learning these songs :-)

would give the whole guitarists community a huge amount - Thanks, in advance :-)

Yes, but beware, those are for diatonically fretted instruments, some of the frets have been left off so you can play "do, re, mi", but no "mi#". And I heartily recommend you build one of those if you haven't already! If you have the chords for a particular tune on your chromatic fretted 3-string, and you are in open tuning of DAd, GDg or CGc, you can use this: (the open circles mean optional notes)

Yes, if your "strummer" (stick dulcimer, not a strum stick, diatonic mono-chord, call it what you like) has 3 strings, a diatonic fretboard and is tuned in one of the 1-5-8 or 1-5-5 tunings (like DAD or DAA), you can use mountain dulcimer tabs, but remember that String 1 on your "strummer" is likely the melody string, while on the mountain dulcimer, what appears to you as "string 3" (or possibly strings 3 &4 if it has paired melody strings) is (are) the melody string(s), so you'll have to swap strings 1 & 3 either mentally, or edit the tabs to reverse the strings on paper. Just use Google to search: "Free mountain dulcimer tabs", "Dulcimer Tabs DAD", or some similar search string.

The "Everything Dulcimer" website is a good place to go (www.everythingdulcimer.com), as is the "Yet Another Digital Tradition Page " (http://sniff.numachi.com/), which I believe is somehow connected to the Mudcat Cafe website. This later site presents an alphabetized list of songs, and those marked "(with tune)" you can click on to see the musical score and below will be a link you can click on for "Dulcimer Tabs". The program which generates the dulcimer tabs allows you to select from a wide variety of tunings, or select your own. Then it generates the tabs. I have used them and its a good starting place, though sometimes the tabs generator program trips up over fret position 6½ - but you'll probably hear this if you are familiar with the tune.
