I've got one on the table now and it did/does seem like a good idea. Not mine though, I saw an example somewhere on the Nation of a superbly crafted guitar (maybe the owner will see this and post his work).
The pans you show have a little rolled lip around the edge that I'm using to "hang" the pan in a hole in a double box and a center thrust that looks like it will lend itself to a biscuit bridge easily.
The fun (and delay) has come from trying to figure out the neck since a neck through won't work due to the depth of the pan. I'll probably go with a brace that runs from the neck then down under the pan to a heel block of some sort.
If any of you reso builders have a suggestion I'm open.

The particular picture I posted isnt the one I found but simular. What do you mean by "double box"? Im trying to picture it in my mind.. As far as the neck goes here might be a suggestion...A Jim Frets Video of his reso lap CBG build.

This IS the one I picked up yesterday though. It measures 1 13/16" deep and 8 1/4" accross.

I got the idea for multiple boxes from Diane from Chicago. She takes two or more boxes and attaches them to make a longer, single box for bodies. I know there are others who do the same.

I am using insulated cake pan double wall and hole digger handle for neck and small pan for reso still looking for that one cake pan made in usa handle made in usa also will send pics when I figure out how to do on this forum

I've been working on a resonator for a while. I used a snare drum head for the body and a metal colander and mixing bowl to resonate. Didn't work out well, so now I'm replacing the colander and bowl with a aluminum plate. The snare drum head would work well for a bundt cake pan.

cool guitar i used cake pan and the handle from my hole digger used

 string 4 5 6 tokk about  one hour and it sounded good  door hinge  three tuners two bolts  done  took about an  hour to put together not pretty like yours but it works

Yeah, my Reso's got BACK. Hahaha

The bundt cake pan is definitely tall. Got to be 4 to 5 inches tall, but would probably sound great.

I'm thinking of trying it out if it's wide enough for this body.
