have a look on here Grant...not sure about times but guess about mid day start (-:
We've not confirmed the running times yet, but doors will open at 10am for an 11am start. If you have a stand to set up, or just want to ease your way into it, by all means come anytime after 10am.
We'll be running the guitar building workshop in the morning, and some playing workshops during the afternoon, though if you prefer just to chat or play, then thats cool - its a very relaxed affair this year.
It will be 'everyone out' by about 5pm so we can soundcheck, then 7.30pm doors for the gig part... and the venue is open until 1am.
We'll post a more detailed plan when we have one!
Thanks for that , I've already done one of Johns guitar making , playing workshop would be very handy , will I have to bring my own guitar for that ? , i'm coming up on the coach and don't have a case for any of mine , still I've a week to make one , thanks again .
You can, or Im sure there will be plenty of guitars around for you to use. I'll have 15 or so, John will have a heap... though dont let that stop you making another!
Righty, rough plan for the day goes a little something like this, but as always, things may drift according to numbers...
10am - Doors open for unloading, setting up trade stands, catching up etc.
11am - Official start, quickly followed by guitar building workshop
1pm Break for lunch
2pm Afternoon sessions including FREE players workshop with Hollowbelly.
4pm - HGMC AGM
5pm Everyone out for a bite to eat while we sound check.
7pm Evening doors
7.30pm / 8pm Gig
1am venue closes
Throughout the day sessions there will be the opportunity to play, chat, sample, try, discuss and enjoy - its a meeting of ideas and minds above all else!
Look forward to seeing you all there :)
Well...that was it for another year...thanks to everyone who supported the event..audience, open mic players, performers, venue... for people just generally being there and up for it. My apologies for not being able to spend time with people during the day...but the workshop was very very busy and having open mic going on at the same time meant it was all a bit mad...but hey, we managed to pull it off again I reckon. I was amazed at how eager people were for it, and how early people arrived both in the morning and for the evening gig....I was still having dinner with Hollowbelly, Lewis Floyd Henry and my daughter when I got the call from Ben that he had an audience all ready and waiting to be entertained at the venue. After a bizarre incident when Lewis somehow set a napkin on fire as the bill arrived, we hot footed it back to The Musician, I grabbed guitar from my stall walked through the waiting audience and got it rolling. People were very generous with their praise for the whole event, so it's that sort of thing that makes it all worth keeping on keeping on...plus getting a general thumbs up for keeping the HGMC going, and a new treasurer and secretary voted in.

Boxstock photos posted on my face book page. CBN only allow 10 photos a day which is to complicated for what is left of my poor little brain today :-) so for now I will just post to FB and post some here when I have some energy.

Things have been a bit inactive on the HGMC front for awhile, but after what seems to have been a well-recieved and successful "Boxstock" event, here's the minutes of the somewhat informal, but nevertheless significant annual general meeting...
HOME GROWN MUSIC COLLECTIVE
AGM 2013
Held at The Musician, Leicester, 26th October 2013
Following notice given on Cigar Box Nation, the annual general meeting of HGMC was chaired by John Wormald, chairman of the HGMC, with committee members Ben Moor (treasurer) and Andy Leonard (secretary) present.
Chairman’s Report
The Chairman reported that HGMC had not been particularly active over the past 12 months, with the exception of arranging Boxstock, via the offices of the Treasurer and Chairman. He put a general motion to the floor as to whether HGMC should be wound up, ‘put on the shelf’, or if it should seek to continue being active. The chairman pointed out that the first two editions of the UK Cigar Box Guitar Festival had been organized and financially underwritten by himself, and the last 3 had been run under the auspices of the HGMC. If HGMC ceased to exist, it would need an individual to be prepared to take on the financial commitment of running ‘Boxstock’, assuming that there was the demand to keep the event running. This would mean in order to present a high quality annual event, someone would need to be prepared to be responsible for a budget in excess of £1000 (and last year’s event was significantly more than that in terms of overall turnover). There was general consensus of opinion that the HGMC should continue for the next 12 months.
The chairman said that in order for the HGMC were to continue, it did need to elect new officers to the positions of Treasures and Secretary, as both Ben Moor and Andy Leonard had already given lots of their time and effort supporting the cause, and it was essential to re-appoint these positions to ensure the proper constitution and banking facilities for HGMC.
Treasurer’s Report
Ben Moor reported that prior to Boxstock, the HGMC's assets were approximately £720 (sum total of the PayPal account and HGMC NatWest Bank Account).
Secretary’s Report
Nil Report
Election of Officers
The chairman offered to continue in the position of chairman. No other nominations were received and it was carried that John Wormald should continue as chairman.
Bob Coe volunteered to take on the post of treasurer; this was seconded and approved by a majority show of hands.
Mark Crew volunteered to take over the post of treasurer; this was also seconded and approved by a majority show of hands.
Any other business
The chairman pointed out that for the first two years there had been a £10 membership subscription, but over the past year, there had been a decision made not to seek membership subscriptions, as there was a degree of uncertainty as to whether people may begin to wonder if it was worth continuing with a subscription. He raised the issue for future debate as to whether the subscription should be re-introduced.
No other matters were raised.
The meeting was declared closed at approximately 4.45pm.
