How does one tune a three string guitar to play Seasick Steve's 'Thunderbird"?

I have been watching and playing this video to death and have not yet figured out how to tune my CBG to play like this.

Please help.

That is my favorite busking vid! My understanding is they made 89$ in 36 minutes & then bought 85$ in wine, LOL!

If I am not mistaken, I have a BC tuned to SSS, he uses the E in 5, D in 3, B in 2, the B is steel, tuned to GGB. My gauge sizes are 45w,25w,17s. The pickup on Big Red is an old harmony, and the hollow body helps create the unique sound. I'm hoping to have a CBG shortly with a Humbucker & Piezo that will duplicate this sound.
