you could  copy  your post  and post it there also . 

i got pretty  good results with a rod piezo  under pressure  inside a wedge box .

i built up a brace  and  laid the rod ontop so it was  "pinched" under the lid , and took a harder hit  when  stomped on . i also  hot glued the entire braided wire  onto the lid  in a spiral  pattern . sounded great  , even added   vol/tone controls . ;-)

Built a few of these using 6X9 speakers, worked well. You may need a deeper box, I built my own out of 3/4" birch. Also amp plays a big part, I use a bass amp.

Looks like the  piezo is directly glued to the lid.  Peel it off and try putting something in between, like a piece of a mouse pad etc.

That sounds like a good idea. I just made my own micro stomp box too and have the same issues as Brian. I think I'll try the cushion idea and bass amp mentioned by Blind Lemon Cello. Thanks guys and thanks Brian for asking the question.

You're trying to drive the speaker from the pre-amp's power? I'm personally not sure how well that would work, so I can't really help in that regard.

That said, if you're trying to give the box more bass, try a 0.022uF ceramic capacitor in parallel with the piezo. If that doesn't cut enough of the treble, you could try an even larger value, 0.047uF perhaps.

I also built this stomp on a tilted board. Works real well at lower levels, but feedback issues at higher levels. Speaker is basically a mic. If you build this style the big trick is to not tighten the speaker full tight, it needs to be a bit loose. Hope this helps.
