Just added this vid to Youtube of my second circuit bent toy. Thinking about connecting it to a looping pedal and maybe some delay for some weird stuff.
While Giants sleep...like it a lot!! and not quite what I was expecting after what you said about the circuit bending. Sounds more mechanical...a rusty old gate or swing creaking and a clock ticking..with beautiful CBG over it. Really nice atmosphere : -)
no not yet, been playing slide on a little guitar i picked up and open tuned for a while now. i've also been collecting bits and bobs (boxes, cans, wood, machine heads, pick ups and such) over the last few months...got enough stuff for a few builds now and was thinking of knocking up a couple of simple d.bows and canjos as practice soon. when i get my arse in gear and make some, i'll be sure to post a few pics on completion.
i've checked out HGMC and boxstock looks a crack and there's every chance i might show my face.
cheers for the comment on the vid, was a great night. just noticed yr nand gate synth at the top of the pge there, nand... that's a cross between a not n an and gate if my computer science memory serves me well?
Here I've been on the nation and never thought to look and see if you were here too. We haven't met, but your YouTube video with the tobacco tin amp was my entry into the CBG world. I can't seem to stop playing and building. Thanks man.
Hiya mate, Sammy here, thanks for the note. Just getting into this whole new world. Half way through attempting to build my first cbg. Keep hitting the wall as I don't have that much technical ability. Just amazed at how many talented individuals we have out there. Love the sound, love the culture. Now I need to start learning this wonderful instrument, seems a lot different to my Ukulele. cheers Sammy
Thanks for complimenting my Punch Bow. I like the baluster neck so much I've gone out and purchased a few more. I'm sure someone else has done that before, but it not, it builds and plays very well.
I was watching some vids with my 6 year old daughter this morning and asked her if she wanted to see the one that got me interested in building guitars - your tobacco tin amp. She said "it makes me want to build a guitar too!"
Thanks for the welcome smojo, my computer threw its legs up recently so only just read your comment on my page ( I bit the bullet yesterday n bought a new laptop!) I guess I'm kinda hooked now, one finished (in a fashion) as it was an experimental rush! 2 more almost done (another 3 stringer + a fretted 6 for a friend of my daughters) all I've gotta do now is learn to play like you!
hi smojo, like wise i had a fab time good the see old and new faces. what i use is a Wagner Safe-T-Planer i think stewmac has a demo clip or you can find clips on youtube.
i think getting the cutters right is the key, when you change them or sharpen them it might take you a few goes to set them right. i always do a test on some scrap first. you need a solid drill as well i bolt mine down when im using it, because of the centrifugal force of the bit. Don’t get the copy get the real one the copy’s tend to suck the wood up. I also use a small wedge or tilt the platform a small amount so only the one edge of the plain is cutting. That will keep the cut cleaner. there is normally a small amount of clean up to do, but not a great deal. Go on youtube and type in; O'Brien Guitars - Luthier Tips du Jour - Safe-T-Planer He does a good demo!
I'm doing a song with my cousin at the moment. She wrote a song and asked if I'd do a bit of CBG on the end...it's ended up with me doing CBG, some bass, a beat and some backing vocals so far....then I might do some glockenspiel, maybe tambourine, clapping..and mixing it,lol!! I'm enjoying it though!
thanks for accepting the friend request, as for what's next, I'm not sure yet, I'm part way thru building a cigar box clock with a lamp on top. But today I had to go off shopping for birthday party stuff for my grandson who's 11 tomorrow! I only have to wire it up now and add a final touch or two, hope to get it done in the morning before the party. I'll stick a pic or two up and see what you think!

Yellowbelly Flatt
Sorry Smojo,
but Flatt is not my real name. It is a "stage name", a nom de plume, that I use for cigar box stuff and t'internet.
My 'real' name is far more obscure and is a Lincolnshire name that goes back forever.
