Just added this vid to Youtube of my second circuit bent toy. Thinking about connecting it to a looping pedal and maybe some delay for some weird stuff.

  • bemuzic

lol, yeah sounds like you need a good rest : -)
  • Michael Wayne Bragg

That is a very trippy song, I like it. Cool circut bending, Mike.
  • dogfinger steve

    cheers man:0)
  • bemuzic

While Giants sleep...like it a lot!! and not quite what I was expecting after what you said about the circuit bending. Sounds more mechanical...a rusty old gate or swing creaking and a clock ticking..with beautiful CBG over it. Really nice atmosphere : -)
  • dg

that was a great tune, im not much for the bending but you really made it work good.
  • bemuzic

well I think you've done a great job!...the sounds are unique, but blend together really well with the CBG.
  • Strolling Tone

Nice. Very cool, minimal and atmospheric.
  • dogfinger steve

nice one, really like it but i was starting to get a bit nervous by the end... got a thing about ticking clocks.. cheers:0)

  • Lee Vickers

no not yet, been playing slide on a little guitar i picked up and open tuned for a while now. i've also been collecting bits and bobs (boxes, cans, wood, machine heads, pick ups and such) over the last few months...got enough stuff for a few builds now and was thinking of knocking up a couple of simple d.bows and canjos as practice soon. when i get my arse in gear and make some, i'll be sure to post a few pics on completion.

i've checked out HGMC and boxstock looks a crack and there's every chance i might show my face.

cheers for the comment on the vid, was a great night. just noticed yr nand gate synth at the top of the pge there, nand... that's a cross between a not n an and gate if my computer science memory serves me well?
  • dogfinger steve

    Hey smojo,

Here I've been on the nation and never thought to look and see if you were here too.  We haven't met, but your YouTube video with the tobacco tin amp was my entry into the CBG world.  I can't seem to stop playing and building.  Thanks man.

  • Sammy Lloyd

Hiya mate, Sammy here, thanks for the note. Just getting into this whole new world. Half way through attempting to build my first cbg. Keep hitting the wall as I don't have that much technical ability. Just amazed at how many talented individuals we have out there. Love the sound, love the culture. Now I need to start learning this wonderful instrument, seems a lot different to my Ukulele. cheers Sammy

  • Bad Finger (Eric)

Thanks for complimenting my Punch Bow.  I like the baluster neck so much I've gone out and purchased a few more.  I'm sure someone else has done that before, but it not, it builds and plays very well.
  • Bad Finger (Eric)

I was watching some vids with my 6 year old daughter this morning and asked her if she wanted to see the one that got me interested in building guitars - your tobacco tin amp.  She said "it makes me want to build a guitar too!"
  • Graham Alibone

I'm all fired up, great time and good company.   Gandalf (Graham).
  • Yellowbelly Flatt

    Sorry Smojo,

but Flatt is not my real name. It is a "stage name", a nom de plume, that I use for cigar box stuff and t'internet.

My 'real' name is far more obscure and is a Lincolnshire name that goes back forever.

Thanks for the welcome smojo, my computer threw its legs up recently so only just read your comment on my page ( I bit the bullet yesterday n bought a new laptop!) I guess I'm kinda hooked now, one finished (in a fashion) as it was an experimental rush! 2 more almost done (another 3 stringer + a fretted 6 for a friend of my daughters) all I've gotta do now is learn to play like you!
  • mark wright aka lefty

hi smojo, like wise i had a fab time good the see old and new faces. what i use is a Wagner Safe-T-Planer i think stewmac has a demo clip or you can find clips on youtube.
  • mark wright aka lefty

    i think getting the cutters right is the key, when you change them or sharpen them it might take you a few goes to set them right. i always do a test on some scrap first. you need a solid drill as well i bolt mine down when im using it, because of the centrifugal force of the bit. Don’t get the copy get the real one the copy’s tend to suck the wood up. I also use a small wedge or tilt the platform a small amount so only the one edge of the plain is cutting. That will keep the cut cleaner.  there is normally a small amount of clean up to do, but not a great deal. Go on youtube and type in;
    O'Brien Guitars - Luthier Tips du Jour - Safe-T-Planer
    He does a good demo!

Hi Smojo,  I don't think so, my wife is ill. I'll know more Thurs orFri.'Boxstock' was great, just what the doctor ordered for me.

  • Paul 'PapaHogg' Smith

'mayday' sounds great. Thanks for sharing...

  • Russell Carlin

Hey Smojo, Mayday sounds great, nice playin' and a catchy hook, it can't fail to please.

Mayday, Mayday!!! Good collaboration...I like how the CBG builds up

  • James

great song, im  following you  on sound cloud now

  • bemuzic

cool, look forward to hearing more.

I'm doing a song with my cousin at the moment. She wrote a song and asked if I'd do a bit of CBG on the end...it's ended up with me doing CBG, some bass, a beat and some backing vocals so far....then I might do some glockenspiel, maybe tambourine, clapping..and mixing it,lol!! I'm enjoying it though!

  • bemuzic

yep busy busy...better than having nothing to do!

  • Leadfoot T

Loved the new track Mayday - it sounds like its got a Beetles Sgt Pepper  twist to it.

  • Howling Dick

  • Gary Williams

    Hi Smojo

    Gary

  • nailtown slim

    Hello mate,

thanks for accepting the friend request, as for what's next, I'm not sure yet, I'm part way thru building a cigar box clock with a lamp on top. But today I had to go off shopping for birthday party stuff for my grandson who's 11 tomorrow! I only have to wire it up now and add a final touch or two, hope to get it done in the morning before the party. I'll stick a pic or two up and see what you think!

    cheers for now,
