    Hi, friend!

  • jabes

thanks for the freindship and the tip.i wasnt aware that they could be shotened, that's handy as these are about 3" long,i take it that the braid and the core need to be separated at the cut end. i bought mine direct from Hong Kong, only £5.25 for 5 peices fitted with  3mm jack plugs, post free too.

Just finishing a 'relic' build, after one year as a 'patient', this is my first ever cigar box guitar, all my others were found or made boxes....have fun  John

  • jabes

thankyou sir, i'll be starting one in a few days, just gotta decide what soundholes to cut in this wine box guit, made out of scraps found while 'spring cleaning' found a nearly completed neck behind the bench, must have been there 6 months, can't figure why i hadn't missed it.

  • Gunny Bush

Thanks Randy, I hope to learn a few things here.

  • bouydog 8-9-8

Thanks for that Randy, you are right the core does seem to be undeveloped with about 2mm of good bone surrounding it and four small tines. I will use it for some thing decorative maybe a walking stick handle. Good to have you as a phone a friend.

  • Joel Poupeau

HI Randy, Those are limited series  STlouis was a french king so I ask to Ivan to make Some ST louis luxury Model as jewel!

  • Randy S. Bretz

" Something Different" build-final pic`sIf you ever wondered about what to use those small cigar boxes for here`s one choice. This build is 2 small boxes cut and put back together as 1. The outer box was quartered and attaxched to the main box, there`s large soundports carved on the sides of the main box with soundholes on the attached pieces. Lacewood neck with crossways bone fretmarkers, ebony rod piezo bridge, cherry slabwood neck.

  • Rob (Uker) Porras

Wow Randy, you are a master! Your work is just fabulous. I've been watching your slideshow and it blows me away. Very inventive and colorful. I love all the laminations and images. Your skulls are awesome! Your bridges are inspirational. Thank you.

  • robert jones

Thanks for the comment on the bone picks.

Had to switch to horn today, for some reason the smell doesn't bother the girlfriend as much as the bone...could be the horn and amber jewelry set I'm making for her has some bearing on her tolerance level. :D

  • Darren Wolbold

    There awsome !

I kinda like mine getto though mine is my old bike seat post cut up with a junior hack saw.

    Keep it getto LOL

  • The Phrygian Kid

    Hey thanks mate :)
Yeah I'm gonna be getting into a couple bigsby stylee benders next couple weeks and was thinking of something real similar
  • Diglydog

Thanks Randy, are they sold as musical instrument pickups or are they for a different application ?  At the moment, I'm still in the rough design stage. Until I get the neck angle and fingerboard thickness sorted out to match the bowed top, I don't know how high the bridge will be.  However, the film pickup looks like a useful option that can be squeezed into a small gap.

  • Diglydog

Thanks - I'll have a look at those.

  • Cornbred

hey Randy I like yer style. Ill be savin for one of those slides

  • darren brown

thanks randy ,the rod bridge you made for it works great no grounding needed saves a lot a time .

ooooooooh boy. just a note. when i experimented and dried my gourds indoors they were not nearly as strong as the ones that i dried over winter outside. the cold seems to strengthen them. they will be fine in the freeze/thaw as well as in the rain. and if they get a hole while drying then just put a piece of duct tape over the hole and sometimes you can salvage them. you probably know this already. Mike

  • john terrell

I'd like to buy some custome pickups from you also were do u purchase you wire I can't find 40mm bare wire

    Mouser Part #'s

    (10KAudio) #688-688-RK09711080J

    (10KLinear) #688-RK0971114D0B

Give em' a try, I've been using em' for a while without any problems.  They're under $4 so they won't hurt yer pocketbook.

Hey Randy. Just wanted to let you know I got my slide and all my bridges and bone today. Was slammed to the hilt when it arrived [10am] and didn't get to open the pkg till 5pm. I knew it would screw my day up if I had seen it earlier. lol. was right on that, heheheh, couldn't help but show it off to the co-workers and customers the rest of the day. Hll, didn't shut the shop down till 9pm. All's I can say is Wow! You sure done me proud!!! TY and for the awesome gifts too. Allen

  • Scott Meredith

Hey Randy, Thanks for the response the info. I definatly wasnt fish'n for your plans I can just tell you have great craftsmanship and an awesome product and what I meant was I know I can make something that would work but it will be nowhere near as nice as yours. Its my first reso and I want it to come out nice. I thought about a dog bone shape but it just may be to much with the bone tail peice and all. I guess I dont know what to do at this point. Let me see if I can sell one of my builds quick and come up with the extra cash then I will get back to you I may just make a quick bolt on do to my excitement for this project until I can have a proper one made by you.I will let you know as soon as I have the money then we can start working on the creative side of it. Again thanks for your time I dont want to seem like a tire kicker your price is really good but my family sucks up all my fun money lol. Hopefully I can move this cbg fast and get back to you asap.
    Until then,
    Scott

  • Mark Lindsay
