From my friend LaurieLee, who inspired me to learn how to play a CBG.
How many instruments have you built so far?
About 30
What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here (at least one sentence long), your membership may be rejected as a spam/bot fake account).
I was attracted by the idea of making a guitar out of "junk" because I build a lot of other things out of junk, and to have a simple instrument that even I might be able to play. As I have progressed I find it fun and challenging to play with the wood and decorate everything in an artsy fashion. I Love 'em !
sorry but a freind named Keith at KSW guitars built it and all my CBG's CBU's i love playing them. right now i'm in love with my padron ukulele fastest playing uke i got
i did help design the double neck and the padron was built to be a mando but i converted it into a uke i do mess with electronics i built a talk box and i circuit bend electronic stuff
Enjoyed the campfire Wally!!!!!!!!you are well hooked now.......no turnin back..and no campfire, complete without strings.........LOL.............
mosquitoes will have to find their own CBG's hehehe
Walter, thanks so much. Now I have a tear in my eye. So much work went into this, more love labor for Laurie, and it's nice to hear someone say so elloquently how much this came through. Million thanks, and yes, a day without Laurie is like a day without sunshine.
I have a few pictures of my bracing in my photos. Shows how it all comes together. Great talking with you and if you ever want to get rid of some brass gears I could use some work out a trade or something. It was great to meet you and shoot the CBG BS
Thanks for stopping by and for your lovely compliments.
I grew up spending a lot of time in my grandfathers shop where i learned all kinds of great stuff using simple hand tools. If it were up to me, i'd be in my shop working away all day, every day. Love it!
thanks for the comment profwaldo,on the hundred dollar cigar box build,i kinda like the old boxes more here lately-- it seems like i have several of them in a row lined up to build a cigar box guitar with them. my latest one is a wizard cigar box--still haven't got the neck and box together yet but when i do i think it will look and sound great.take care and thanks for the comment once again.
Thanks for your comment on my rendition of 'The Soul of a Man'. Such a great tune. And once again, I'd like to congratulate you for producing what I think is one of the most fantastic stringed instruments I'm ever likely to see. Absolutely outstanding - and massively inspiring. Cheers Wally!
thankyou Wally-----:-) kind word on the vid...soon to launch another,, ....we expected a beautiful sunny day here, supposed to be spring like (think M-O-W)---think they sprayed the skies , yet again.........looking forward to brighter days.......:-) XosLaurie
Actually mom called me JonBoy a long time before the TV show aired. When I started on the internet in the 90's JonBoy was already taken as a username. I knew a lady from Louisianna with the last name Bouye that was pronounced Boy so I started using it. It works for me...lol.
had to do a double take, one of your how to tune a brass guitar pics appears as tho the guit is on the ceiling!!!...thanks Wally for listens.......I have puter trouble...this morning had sound, now none.......
