How did you learn about Cigar Box Nation?
Surfing the net while waiting for my first two CBG's to arrive that I bought from eBay, back in Oct 2009. There was a postal strike and I think I must have watched nearly every CBG video on Youtube and found THE NATION : -)

Belinda, do you know what a hang drum is?  Check them out on youtube.  They kind of remind me of some of your sparklier looper tunes.

    Hi Belinda,

Thanks on RR Town.   Yes, I guess things went according to God's plan.  But I wish his plan would have called for me to be less hard headed and to screw up less!   He seems to love me as I am.

Hope your recording progresses well.  I have not yet been able to do even a half decent job on my Christmas song.    Maybe it's too early for the mood.

Yeah, Paul Henry's is in an early 20th century Hardware Store in Hammond, IN.  It is an all acoustic setting with great atmosphere and wonderful musicians, artists, poets that share what they do.

We even have some non musicians that love to cook and bring in amazing food each week!

    Hi.

I only have the digital manual (as I got the amp second hand on eBay) and it doesn't say not to use rechargeables in that. I have had it for 9 or 10 months and I don't think I have used anything else. Seems to run almost forever of them. There is no drop in volume compared to using the mains adaptor. They have a slightly lower voltage but the worst that could happen is that it wouldn't work (which it clearly does).

    All the best.

    John

  • Hillbilly Hobo

    im loving your music excellent

    Hi.

Well, with the usual stipulation that I am not an electrician or electronics engineer and that if you try you do it entirely at your own risk, no. Seriously the only significant difference is that disposable batteries are 1.5 volts and rechargeables are 1.2 volts. Either they will work as normal (as with the Micro Cube) or not, in which case you just have to put the disposable batteries back in. I would certainly try it.

    All the best.

    John

  • ProfWaldo

Love the steam vehicle house thingie link you sent me Belinda. Thank you ! :-))

  • jim ryan

Hi bemuzic thanks for quick reply, it is the reverb in this Clip, dont know if the Amp is yellow or green lol, but you looked quite surprised at how it sounded with the reverb, so is this Reverb the "Boss RV-5" i love that Tone, sends shivers down my neck.

    Thanks

    Jim

  • Calim

    finally got mine!

great record, defintely deserves it place at the top of my cd collection!

  • Kelly 2Fingers

Thanks for the kind words, love your music.

  • Joker

Thanks for checking out my new vid. It was a song demo originally. Just recording ideas. But I began to add reverb and echoes, blending field recordings. Then I made a vid using some recent photos and videos I took.
  • Malcolm Wright

Really appreciate your kind words, makes all the hard work worth it!

As for playing them........well, that's something I have to leave to those who know what they're doing. But if you can get to Boxstock this year, or the Sweeps Fest in Rochester, Kent, over the bank holiday weekend they'll be on show for you to pick up and play.

    Cheers B.  Malc

  • Malcolm Wright

    You're absolutely right B.

If I spent a little less time trying to find obscure blues players on YouTube and a little more practicing a chord or two maybe I'd get even more enjoyment out of my hobby!

Cheers for the encouragement and inspiration.

  • The Electric Pilgrims

hello ,i just watched your youtube vid " 2nd home made cigar box amp - sound test, i wondered where you got the amp module from, or if you sell them, love the sound, thanks for your time :)

  • GARY KNIGHT

    Hi again,

I decided against the pyrex lid in the end, as it happened my Dad was throwing out some old pans, so I nabbed them. It hasn't got a terribly reso sound, more like a nice clean acoustic guitar.. sounds nice though !

Any ideas as to how to add some of that tinny zing to the sound?

    Cheers

    Gary

  • GARY KNIGHT

    Hi again,

The bit on the end is the nob from the pyrex lid :)
