Gees.... Not sure I should accept a friend request from someone named Maddog with a face like in your profile shot. Hmm. What the hell? Okay. :}
Blair? I have been through there many times. Had friends who went to Dana. Bought vehicles at Woodhouse - hate their commercials - hope that gal is not your kin!
You would be the closest by to me of nation folks who participate. There's also Barry from Des Moines.
Good cbg fest in KC in late August. Linda and I plan to go down.
Thanks for the kind words and I really am glad to have you for a nation friend.
My Side of the Mountain. I remember that book. I spent many Summer days as a boy with my friends in the local mountains. I was very envious of his courage.
Thank you for the compliment.Don't know when I'll get these finished, other things seem to be getting in the way of me spending as much time in my hut as I would like
Hi Maddog. A really beautiful cbg! I also would like to thank you for your positive comment on my first. I'm working on the sound in it, probably some metal support at the stringholes at the bottom will do. Have also started on a double neck with one ordinary guitar neck made of oak and maple (fretboard) and a lute neck made of plumtree and mapel (neckboard). Photos will be shown.
thanks Maddog for the complement, right back at ya.it was Candace who mentioned to me about a book in our local book store on building C B G s.now like everyone else I'm hooked. She's got my second build,my first one went to my oldest daughter for her 22nd birthday.anyway thanks again, take care, hope to talk to you again soon.Pete
Just starting to work on it! The funny thing is...I don't play guitar! I'll have to wait for my husband to get home from work to play it and tell me if it works!
Hi Maddog! #2 is out. It did'nt become a double-neck, maybe next time. My Oldest son (21) just wanted a "lute-neck-guitar", and he's a nice guy so "lute-neck" it became. Question: When did you start your building career? And how and why? The best!!
Hi Maddog. Inspired by your latest picture I'm starting on a new project today. Trying to make it look as good as your builds. That will take a lot of time and learning and give a lot of pride and fun.
Thanks for the friending Maddog! Any friend of Uncle Johns is a friend of mine! ;-}} I dig your builds and your photo studio background (river)too! I grew up along a river in Minnesota. Our family farm had about a half mile of river frontage and I spent many summer days down there. That drive in speaker amp is cool! Might have to invest in one if you build some to sell!
It was great to meet you at Junk stock. We made it home in one piece to Mankato. Your cigar boxes are a sight to see. I haven't decided to put the workmanship into mine like you do. They are beautiful. I started working on another one the minute I got home. Waiting for glue to dry now.
I've been carving for years. It's a great hobby, only really takes a sharp knife & a piece of basswood/pine (easiest to carve with your hands) Also lots of good instructions on you tube. I make walking sticks & sell @ craft shows. Thinking of adding cigar boxes/canjos & see if they sell.

This is the tambourine stick I was talking about. I cut the skin off and put an 1/8" disk in place. I went a little crazy with the paint.

I have one of those large screened grommets, approx. 2".
What is the best method for holding it in a cedar box?
The top is only .110 thick. I'm thinking glue.
I need knowledge from a master.
