What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here (at least one sentence long), your membership may be rejected as a spam/bot fake account).
Well I've been at it for almost 7 years now, cbg's and their rich history as well as artistic expression have made a HUGE impact in my life. Now I am hoping to use my skills and passion to do the same for others.
i know, im super anxious, too! i'm painting some boxes right now and will probably put a guitar together this weekend. haven't done too much recording yet, just a few tracks...they're kinda strange, though. one of em is me playing a singing saw that's hooked to a delay pedal. sounds kinda...psychedelic? haha but soon enough i'll lay down some more bluesy and old timey tracks
Hey, just checked out your page, it's pretty cool...
I have always been a "Larry Norman" fan, if you don't know who he is just search by his name and a ton of things will come up.
You have much more musical experience than I do, but I have always been really turned on by boogie woogie and blues music siince I was at least 5 years old, I had piano lessons for 2-3 years when I was young but they wouldn't let me play the boogie woogie blues stuff, instead I had to play classical sounding music which I hated at the time so I quit lessons and didn't really get back into music until high school when I made a friend who played electric guitar, and now 25+ years later I am trying to catch up and re-learn what I once was learning. I really enjoy Cigar Box Nation and have several projects in the works and many more planned, though recently I kind of screwed up a couple so they are in the process of being repaired.
Just checked out you diddley video. Why was I expecting a southern drawl. Damn my pre conceived notions..... I'm really only interested in the pickups I have all the other stuff. If i took the pickgaurd I'd only wanna try to put it on a box that would be a waste of a nice gaurd. let me know if you wanna do straight cash or trade plus cash.
To build a neck, I would need box dimensions, plus where on the box you want to place the bridge, plus scale length. Then we would be looking at some idea of action (high, med, low/fast), bolt-on or neck-thru, tail or tailless and headstock design. I would be able to offer you a good variety of woods to bulld from (both for esthetic and performance purposes) and tuners.
Yes, for a full-on neck I would want both tuners. I'll have 10+ hours and some real investment in parts and would have to build a CBG body so that I can fully set up the neck.
If this is OK with you let me know. I'm working against a hard deadline for building at the end of April before surgery and a move in May. I have with plenty of projects so would need to get yours going before I shut down.....
thanks,
the best,
Wichita Sam
BTW, You have one of the best music selections on your player of any in the nation. Nice mix, sweet sounds.... - WS
