    Hi John,

Great, looking forward to 'Skyping'. Milva can relate the 'Bow Story'! B-) ...

... Hi John.  Thanks for your referral to Restalls.  He verified authenticity of broken and replacement bows and insurance covered it.  Replacement is by same maker and is a lovely bow, practically plays itself.  If only!  Need to tether bow to my arm.  Too much drama.  Also bought a cheap and cheerful chinese bow from Restall to take on road trips.  It's a perambuco/carbon fibre laminate.  Crazy, but it's quite a good bow. x M

Thanks for the comment .  You are too kind .  I just gave that pickup another try .  It's really weak .  The hum you hear in the video is made by the pickup ,but only when sound is made . ?  I may post some pictures on how I made it .  Maybe someone with better pickup making skills would have better results .

  • JW Leader

    John,

Haven't corresponded in awhile with you; busy. Just wanted to let you know, I finally put up my first vid!

  • Cpt. Nemoff

    Hi, Roadkill !

"nice playing captain" - отличная игра , капитан!

  • Keni Lee Burgess

Thank you John for your reply. This is certainly the beauty of applying open tuning. If you understand the string relationships, it doesn't matter how many strings on the guitar...I am not sure if you are aware of this, but there is an Open C Tuning (CGCGCE / 151513) that is different than Open D just tuned down a whole step to C.

The first three highest strings CGC(GCE) / 513 have the same string realtionship as the CD 6 Moveable Chord Method: ADF# / 513. Of course the chord names change because we are in the key of C instead of D, but the approach is exactly the same. Additionally, the bass CGC is the same 151 as GDG tuning. If I ever get time, I want to explore this tuning in depth. Fasinating stuff. Enjoy.

  • Pequeño Diablo Guitars

It was a lot fun hacking this radio even though it took many, many attempts. The tune is a abbrieviated version of a song I wrote recently. Norwegian Wood is quite the complement. Thanks!

  • Essex Delta Boy

Hi John, I've just joined and although I've been messing around on a Daddy Mojo 5strg. for a few years I am now going to try building a bass.

It's good that there are other crazy guys like me around who are willing to help and share.

  • erik brena

Thanks John! You got some nice looking CBGS too. Rock on!

  • The Phrygian Kid

Bless you John Maw your so gracious watching every bodies videos and saying your kind words. I loaded up the home page just now and it's all you encouraging people I think it's great
  • bemuzic

so have you tried the Microcube on rechargeables yourself? I was wondering about it recently. The manual say not to use them...

  • bemuzic

oh cool...maybe I'm remembering it wrong about the manual, I'll give it a go : -)

Wondering about the loop pedal as well which also takes 6aa's. I think it might have been that now I think about it, which said you had to use alkaline batteries, and I couldn't find any alkaline re chargeables. As it wasn't cheap and I bought it new I haven't dared risk trying re chageables. Do you think they could damage it???

  • bemuzic

ah cool thanks John, yeah think I'll try it...could save me quite a bit of money if it works!

  • Kelly 2Fingers

Roadkill, Thank you for the kind words, your builds are incredible!!

  • darren brown

    thanks john .

  • Jim Morris

Thanks for the kind words John. I've enjoyed looking at and listening to your stuff too!

  • Howard Crider

Hey mate just wanted to say hi. Haven't on in a while. Been busy moving. Hope all is well.
  • Jim Junksville Sharkey

Thanks for comment on the Glitsch video John, it's a little out of synch on my first attempt, but good fun to do!

  • thikwater

Hi John, thanks for your kind words. Its always nice to get positive comments from a fellow builder. Trev

  • thikwater

Hi John, thanks for your comments. I was looking at that lovely art deco one on you made a while back on your website. That's as nice an instrument as you're gonna find. Hope it plays as well as it looks. I also like the fact that you are trying to take intonation to another level too with some nice bridge/saddle designs. I've been toying with the same kind of thing for a while now but none of my designs have actually made it to any of my builds as yet. Hopefully, I'll perfect them enough to start using them in the near future. Trev

  • Thomas (Doc)

Thanks John, I'm working on it. Getting some good quality tools and learning how to use them is fun :)

  • Mark Lillo

Hi John. Thanks for the nice comments on Harrisons' parlor guitar. It was a fun build.

  • Diglydog

    Hi John.

Yes, additional tools can be really useful - it's just a case of being selective and finding the ones that make a real difference, as opposed to those that perhaps duplicate something that I already have.

  • Dave Lynas

Hi John, thanks for the friends request. I'll be delighted to be your friend. I've learned some lessons from you already and want more.

  • Elmar Zeilhofer

John, thanks for friending! I like your work a lot and that milling jig is a cool tool. It's encouraging to give it a try to make such a table.

  • Nigel McTrustry

Thanks for the kind words John

  • Hippy Chip

Thanks John, that gitty actually belongs to his sister's husband, he was there for a visit, and seemed to enjoy playing it---I think I need to build him something even crazier---he's getting pretty good!!

  • Tor Börve

Thank you for adding me! I´m honoured!

  • Ron "Oily" Sprague

    John,

Long time no hear from! How you been? Thanks for the comments on Boneyard Strut. I find that if I sit down for a 2-3 nights in the quiet hour after everyone's gone to bed, just plinking away, things like this begin to appear under my fingers. I haven't been so musically creative since I took up the guitar at age 17! And lyrics seem to sprout out of nowhere when I get on CBN and see some vids or hear other people's tunes. Working on getting the Townes Van Zandt CBG tribute album in the can, and continually writing lyrics, song snippets and full songs for my debut album, which I'm scheduling for year-end. Got another one in the works that sounds vaguely CCR / John Fogerty-ish. Will be traveling to Poland and the US later this summer for Little League  baseball, as my 12-year-old son made the All Star Travel Team; wish we could stop off in England, catch a blues festival, and pay you a visit. One day.

  • Letha Allen

    Hi John,

Just wanted to thank you for the nice compliments. Sorry it took me so long, but I have been away a while. You have a very distinctive voice, and I enjoy listening to you.

    Have a great night

  • Nancy kat

Glad your ok John-sounds like a fun BBQ- hope u have a great time! meow^^

  • Darren "Deadman" Manion

    Hi John

about the boxes pictured. I'm across in North Norfolk, so in the UK. I've literally just collected them from the auction yesterday so haven't really gone through them fully.
I have a show to get out of the way this weekend (we deal in vintage eyewear) so once that's over and done with I'll have time to go through them and takes some photo's and measurements etc.
What I can do is send you some pictures of the boxes across as I do so if you email me at darren@deadmensspex.com . Also let me know what sizes are best for you.

There are a lot of boxes. I'll be keeping some but the rest will be up for grabs (we need the room :oD )

    All the best
    Darren
  • Phil Aspill

Hi John - thanks for kind comment - I can't play any good that's why it was a short vid, if I get any better I will put up a longer one - Best, Phil.

  • Howling Dick

    Northamptonshire Delta. And yourself?

  • Howling Dick

Well John, ya wouldn't want to be standin' at those crossroads in rush hour man!!!!

Unfortunately I missed Boxstock but I want to go to the next UK festiavl. We had a small gig with tintone army and aboycalledstu in London recently which was fun - Ill let you know the next one.

Checked out that amp youve got and seems like a lot of amp for £99. Im looking for something to mike up - at the moment Im going straight into laptop. I have a small fender champion 600 with a valve pre amp which has a really nice sound for a regular gittar but no effects. Are you happy with yours? - would you recommend or go for a multi effects pedal?(which I've never been keen on).

  • Howling Dick

    Thanks John

Food for thought. Think Im gonna borrow a couple of my sons pedals to see if I can get the sound I want. He has a Fender 63 reverb pedal which may be the right thing.

That below should be like furniture... you bring it!... John will make it into CBG's ...

  • Kenneth Wilson Hale

Thanks a bunch, John, I did not get to rehearse or soundcheck, that was just

a raw jam with my brother in law's camera work- I don't even own a video camera.

Well, I can see that you have a great site to explore with some great music yourself.

I'll have to spend some time exploring! Ken Hale

  • Kenneth Wilson Hale

Thanks, buddy, for the good words. Do you know what is the best way to capo

a thick neck cigar box guitar? Maybe I'll have to build a capo that will work/

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Ken Hale

  • Mr.melo

    awesome..cheers bro:)

  • Kenneth Wilson Hale

Yeah, That would work, especially the 2nd one. Thanks, Buddy,   Ken
