Huntsville is home to the World’s Longest Running Cigar Box Guitar Festival and will be celebrating its 20th year May 30-June 2, raising money for music education. The Festival kicks off on Thursday May 30 at The Casual Pint, where The Cigar Box Guitar Store and Originally Huntsville team up for all original music performed by local artists on cigar box instruments. Music begins at 7:00 pm with trio Lowelife, followed by one-man band John Nickel and concluding with local favorite Tim Cannon. No cover charge and musicians are donating their tips to music education. The Casual Pint is located at 2 Off Broadway NW, Huntsville, AL 35806.
There will be three more days of events at four other locations, including rock and blues on Friday night; music, dancing and kids activities during the day on Saturday; an evening concert with Grammy-winner Gary Nichols on Saturday night; and jazz brunch on Sunday.
