Hi everyone, i have a question in regards to the neck nut on a four stringer.

Here is my question, how high above the fret board,  should the nut be ?

I've built three 3 stringer slides, and now i want to build a 4 stringer. Any help ?

My first four string guitar gets a start.  I got 6 hours to myself on Sunday.  I didn't avoid all the evil eye looks from my wife or distractions from the kids - like the Halloween party, but I almost got this all done in one day.  I'm showing Uncle John the deepest respect by copying his suggested tuning GDGB.

4 string reso complete! Mahogony neck,oak body, rosewood fingerboard. Fishman preamp from an under the saddle pick up. Check out other pics on my home page.

Two new builds, one using recycled electrics from earlier  build "Slowpawcaster" which never really worked out,  the electrics are fine and sound much better in this new build "Medicine Show", used both necks from the "Gemini" build which turned out to be too unstable.

A new 4 string is born! 

Meet new build "Punch Ventilator Grill" or "The Ventilator" for short - recycled neck from my "Ol' Roundy" Banjo, a hard decision as every time a Banjo is disassembled a Banjo Fairy dies....i'll probably get thrown off the Banjo group but i just don't play it anymore...sorry, lately everytime i looked at it i thought "parts...!" ...so, a new acoustic Cigar Box Guitar is born! (-:

I tested the Reso build's response to the pickup but for some reason it hardly sounded like the reso cone was there, could be a placement problem so i experimented with a spare piezo and the results were startling - i placed the piezo directly below the cone on the neck extension and bingo!  fully recognisable reso sound.

Will use the Flatpup4 on another build i'm doing and sure it will suit its qualities better. (-:
