Here's a short video of my Matchbox Diddley Bo, probably the most off-the-wall thing I ever built.

NOTICE:
Name Change.
Due to the fact that the name "Swamp Thang" is being marketed by other musical products, I am renaming it "The Geaux Bow".

Mine will not be a strumstick, eh ... strum stick, er... Strumstick, Strum Stick. I wonder if it makes a difference if it is written with a capital letter. (four letter word here) Here in Finland trademark is usually copyrighted by the way it is written. So would there be a way to use the word anyway? Who cares...
Referring to this:

my instrument will be "NOT a strumstick" or a stick dulcimer
Period.

Cool doggie dish ;-)

I LIKE IT!

Just don't call it a strumstick.... that's all thats copyrighted or whatever.. there's no issue with guitar type dulcimer fretted instruments, and i'm sure no one here is making 'strumsticks'

Ted, the instrument I posted below is a diddley bow I made from a plank of Shebua wood, it has a piezo-loaded ukulele body laminated into it. The bow also features a 1/2 Fender P Bass pickup ran into a Cigar box that acts as the elctronics enclosure in the tail. It a;so has a Cigar Box Amp on the top of it, loaded with a Fender Mini-Twin Amp circuit and speaker. Other features: Indian rosewood bridge, Fender Stratocaster saddles for bridge saddle and string tree, a canary wood nut and a Schaller-made Valley Arts Guitar tuner.

Randy, I also build dulcimer scaled cbg's. I found that the non guitar people like them because they can pickout melody's and are easy to play. I play old time music with a dulcimer club and there always a big hit. The strum stick name issue has been around a while therefore I just call mine "Dulci-Box"

To Mark Vicroid...
I've looked through strumstick pages. My construction looks somewhat similar. I like the idea of strumstick, but I hate the idea that a name of an instrument is a trademark. "Violin" or "guitar" are not trademaks. No close up pictures of such to be found, so I'm building my own NOT a strumstick. Thanks, Brian this is one cool discussion forum!
