I just have to say, this site is so damn much fun. There's always something interesting going on, in addition to the river of information inside. It's impossible to look at CBN for just a few…Continue

this 'new kid in the shop' has been here since the old forum, and far from bitching and complaining has actively encouraged and helped out many, many new builders and budding musicans on cbn for years.
from arranging numerous free download albums on here a lot of guys & girls have taken a step they never thought they could
and recorded music on their homemade instruments for everyone to enjoy - for free.

but the community aspect has been pushed so far down the pecking order in favour of feature articles and speal blogs etc
i feel i'm now on a shopping website, the cigarbox guitar revolution as far as cigarboxnation seems gone to me.

but i'm not a negative guy and wish mr barker all the luck in the world, he pays the bills not me, and although a few members
have repeated the concerns in the direction it's heading perhaps i'll just leave the cbn and let it be

peace guys, and thanks for the memories

Well said Wayfinder. Used to work wit an old toolmaker who summed life up pretty good when a "new kid" in the shop was bitching one day. "If your happiness depends on what someone else says, then you have a problem".

My theory has always been that if you aren't having fun doing something or being somewhere, why are doing it or being there?

I like what you just said, especially in the last bit about not to be condescending. This is actually very good advice and I for one could use an overdose. But in fairness to those in the soap box who have condescended, the forum instructs us to pull no punches. So for me to be offended here after reading the guild lines would be like me getting upset the bull horned me when I got in his pen.

As far as getting paid for what I like to do, I haven't found anyone willing to pay much for me snoring in my recliner!

Well for one, if it were recognizable these days then it'd be like a stagnate pool or some old farts home that is in need of a make over. Personally I can't see the value in the articles posted under featured article but then again I don't stop there and dwell on it. It's a small price to pay for the efforts and time spent keeping this site going for everyone.

This site is open to newer and better ideas if you have one. The revolution continues here and in every town around the world. I meet new enthusiast every month. I have to be the torch bearer and not place that burden on a website. This web site is only as good as it's members.

There is a difference between ranting and crying!

Thoughts?

allow me to rant on

well in 2015 the famous cigarbox revolution seems to have died a death. what is this 'featured article' crap?
what happened to the community around here...if it was my 1st visit i'd think it was some shopping website minus
the obligatory basket to drop all the goodies in to save me building em - but give it time, eh?

yeah we all got bills to pay but the balance here is way out of whack - it's unrecognizable these days

thoughts?

A couple of recent videos made me think back to the old "rant" above, but that maybe all isn't lost, after all.

Silent Jim's "Wishbringer Fretless low action CBG -  played superbly and acoustically,

http://www.cigarboxnation.com/video/wishbringer-fretless-low-action... ,

and the video "Quintin Plays a Wayfinder Git" - amp on clean/no electronic effects,

http://www.cigarboxnation.com/forum/topics/quintin-plays-a-wayfinde...

demonstrate that, indeed, overproduced "caterwauling" isn't necessary...... if you've got the goods.
