Piezo for a wash tub bass?

I am making an upright wash tub bass the same scale length and with the regular strings and want to know if anyone has used a piezo on one.

Would you put it in the same basic spot under the (most) bass string?

Is hot glue a good way to attach it?

I might not have made myself clear enough though.

The bass I am making has the metal tub which will be the side and back and the top will be wood...

Are you saying attach the piezo to the underside of the wood?

The tub is oval, 30 in.x 15 in.

I was thinking of using a high quality 1/4 in. plywood like baltic birch.  Do you think a top like spruce would make a difference?  The price might also decide for me.
