I think any wire would work.

think "skeesix" has the wrong end of the stick,,

 

tone cap's come in many different value's, is there any printing on the cap you want to use, if not just solder it on and see what your tone sound's like, nothing will blow up,

Skeesix I thought the same thing, but when looking at caps on the internet, they all looked so different. G.H. no markings but it looks very similar in size and shape. I was worried that it could hurt the pot somehow. Thanks for the info so far I will keep ya' posted.

okay, I lied first the cap I have on hand is barrel shaped, grey and on it is wrote

so, not sure what all that really means, but I can hypothesize.

i'm no electronics expert so all the numbers mean nothing to me, all the tone cap's i've seen for guitar's have value's of say 0.47uF or 0.05uF, there's lot's of different value's available, so like i said, solder your weird cap on and see what it sound's like,
