The first NE Builders Guild meeting has happened.  We met this morning for our first meeting and introduced ourselves and discussed were each would like to see the group stand for.  Some great ideas that I will present in the next email and of course we await the ideas from those who wanted to but could not attend.

It was really nice meeting Dean, Pat and his Dad.  Seems like it will be easy enough to find common ground as we share a compelling interest in cigar box guitars.

Here are a couple of pictures.  I asked the others to post some of theirs as well.  Pat played us a little tune and he showed off his Rocky Patel build.

Dean is showing off one of his builds with the built in amp and FM transmitter.

They were all really cool.  It is the best thing that you can do with a stick and an box.

Not on the mail list, send me a message.  It is as simple as that.

Thanks everyone for the kind words of support.

Also the only reason I asked for contact via my web site (gmail) is that it is easy.  Alternately you can also add me via your friends on this site and PM me.  Just not ready to publish my home address on an open forum.

Hey, I only need more than myself to make it a meeting.  At this rate, it'll sure save on pizza.

Plenty of room for others.

Also lots of room on this board for discussions as to what everyone is interested in.  Mine are only ideas in the absence of your voices.

Once nice weather appears, I have PA gear left over from when I did live sound.  Barbeque?  The video I posted should warn you I can't play worth a damn but I heard others and that could be fun.

I can make it! I will contact you on Tuesday via your website when I get to my computer (I am on a tablet now)

Perhaps it is because I always had that cart before horse problem.  Anyway, so far Jan 26 is looking like a bust.  Serves me right for trying this in the middle of football season.

As it currently stands, no one is available.  I wasn't sure if this was just a date issue or as others have indicated, distance.

Anyway, I am still encouraging people to reach out to local members and get together.  I figure if you guys begin to form small groups, it will be a lot easier for you to be willing to attend and help put together larger fair weather events.

I'd like to eventually do workshops.  I have some ideas for some.  I could offer a pickup winding one.  Anything from basics to fundamentals.  I am sure as others have said in the past, there are others that you might want to host.

It has to start somewhere.  I am going to keep at it but in the end, it is up to everyone.

Having regular regional get-togethers is a great idea.   It could be a great way for all of us to learn.  I'm a pretty decent woodworker/builder, but my playing could stand some improvement.  I'd be happy to contribute help or advise with building, and I'd welcome help with my playing.  Unfortunately, I'm already busy on the Jan 16 date that Don suggested recently.

Welcome Paul both to the group and to NE.  There have been discussions and I am am soliciting the Nation for members in this area to indicate what it would take to participate.  The discussion is still new so add your voice.
