The simplest little resonator instrument of all. Please add links to plans, photos of your canjos and ideas you've found that make the most of this diminutive instrument. (The image is a temporary placeholder, I'll replace it any day now!)

Maybe it is just me, but I love to sit there and pick out songs I know or songs people want to play on my Canjo. I own a couple of Canjo Song books from Gitty, and looked around online and found a…Continue

So I've made a few of this tin can banjo things. Having a blast playing on them. I've made a couple out of empty tin "soup" cans and one out of a beer can. I cut a few other cans to prepare them to…Continue

Go to the StewMac site. It gives you a choice of the measurements in either inches or millimeters.....no need to try and convert yourself :-)
Thanx I'll keep that in mind, and where's da best place to get a measurement
device that measures milimeters on a larger scale? Way back they
tried to make americans learn metrics, and I was one dat resisted,Lol :))
I'm still learning them
Easiest way to measure those smaller increments, is to convert to millimeters.....much easier.
So if i take out some of the fret positions, is that how you end up with those
smaller fret positions down the fretboard? I have been using Wfret for quite some time for my cbg's n diddleys. thanx 2 all who replied
I'm aware of that calculator, only thing is that i'm not that proficient on a ruler
to that precise of a measurment. you tell me 1/4 or 9/16 i'm good, but when
you tell me 1.235" or 2.598" i'm lost???
Heer is a simple clip I just put together out of a piece of banding material about 1.25" wide by 4" or so long. Along with a picture of it installed on on of my latest builds. Pretty simple & self explanatory. Canjo stick is of Hard maple fret board of Cherry with one of Gittys Uke rod piezos under can. Electronis behind brass plate.
Its nice to see that someone else actually built one after seeing a picture of one of my builds. Keep up the good work Battman. You can have a lot of fun building these and refining them to your specs. Depending how you want to hold it you can put a strap on one or a simple belt hook on the bottom so you can hook it to your belt and not have to hold the can end. Just a simple piece of light weight meatl bent in a u shape and atached to the bottom of the stick with a screw so it can rotate so it can be played either right or left handed. Ill try to get a picture posted of one in near future.
