The simplest little resonator instrument of all. Please add links to plans, photos of your canjos and ideas you've found that make the most of this diminutive instrument. (The image is a temporary placeholder, I'll replace it any day now!)

Maybe it is just me, but I love to sit there and pick out songs I know or songs people want to play on my Canjo. I own a couple of Canjo Song books from Gitty, and looked around online and found a…Continue

So I've made a few of this tin can banjo things. Having a blast playing on them. I've made a couple out of empty tin "soup" cans and one out of a beer can. I cut a few other cans to prepare them to…Continue

Thanks Russ, very cool. Appreciate it, keep up the cool builds!
Get ya some jelly jar and make a jamgo! Nice job Russ, like the creative intuition. Try and put up a short video of them.
Hey Glenn, thanks! I just used wire cutters to cut large paper-clips into 4 pieces (each bent off section will easily fit a single string neck width) then I just used gorilla-glue to secure them. I held them in place by the ends and the glue set in like 15-30 sec. Then I took the wire cutters and nipped off the edges. I just used banjo strings.
Russ, you're freakin' me out! NICE. Thanks. Paperclips no less.. HA! Man, I gotta build me one of these. Oh- how did you secure the paper clips? Steel or nylon strings on these? Thanks, -Glenn
I posted it on the main page, but here's my two latest builds. I used sign-post stakes for the necks and peanut butter jars for the resonators. I added paper-clip frets and I gotta say they sound fantastic. I also learned that these kind of plastic bodies make a really great whammy-bar effect when you press on them. I'm in love with these little guys!
I always put a couple of stove bolts through the bottom of my cans to hold them tight to the stick and eliminate the vibrations between the can and stick. The only time I dont is when i'm making a diddley bow with a can resonator. I made a special tool to install them in my beer cans. It holds the screwa so I can install them through the neck and I put the nuts on the outside.
Need a string tree for added tension,
I jus add a screw wit a washer on it,
low tech but solves da problem?
ok, I should ave thought of this earlier,.going back to my first built CBG's without slanted headstocks , I had this problem. Not enough string tension after the nut . add a simple eye bolt and probelm solved.
