(CB) U bass help

Hi all, I am trying to sort out my latest build, a 21" scale ubass.  I used Thundergut strings, but they don't seem right.  The lower strings are very slack, I can't seem to raise the strings enough to get them to stop buzzing on the frets.  The higher strings seem quite taunt but still buzz.  Can someone share a proper nut and bridge height for these strings?  I found a reference to a 5mm height at the 12 fret but how do I balance that at each end?

I'd try filing the frets just a little at a time with a fine file to get rid of the buzzing.  It seems to work most of the time.
