Diane the tatoo is a wood burn,I used to do lots of phrography and scroll saw art untill my emphercima put a stop to it Mal

Nice looking instrument, Mal.

I like the Celtic scrolls. I should be a bit more artistic with my plane-Jane builds. It looks like you wanted to string it up with dual melody strings, but my failing eyes don't see the 4th string. So, I guess its only a 3-stringer at this point. What did you do with the sound hole? Plug it up? It needs a hair cut, too. The sound box came out quite symmetrical, so that's very nice. It might be the camera angle, but the neck joined to the sound box looks a little lopsided, but that adds character to the build. The fret job came out pretty clean looking, too. I hope it plays as good as it looks.

It also looks like you have a regular CBG production run going on over at the right-side of the photo.

Hi guys just finished no 2 today,I had ordered madalin strings but they where to short .I listened to Any's recording and contacted him to see which strings he used and to my serprize he said he used monofilm fishing line.I went out and bought some the results are fantastic.Cheers andy mate.you where right the neck was out of square but this time I used a simple jig,Actally the cbg that can be seen in the picture are ones I gladly bought from chicken bone john.fantastick instrements, Thanks john Mal

Hi Mal,

I liked your photo, so I'm re-posting it here so people can see it. Also, it looked like you were having trouble getting the code embedded into the Ning text editor for making discussion replies.

What I generally do is to right-click on the image I want to add to the discussion and select the option "Copying image location", doing this from another browser instance or tab, and then I switch back to the browser where I'm adding my replay to CBN, and in the Ning text editor, click on the "Image" button in the menu bar at the top of the text editor. This gives me two copy options: "From my computer" and "From a URL". Select the "From a URL" option and in the URL text box that appears, paste in the URL that you have got previously from the "Copying image location" operation. Depending on the size of the image you will have to wait a second to several seconds before control returns to the dialog box. At that point you can center the photo as you want, re-size it, and the like with other options in the dialog box. Click "OK" and the photo should appear in the discussion reply. Hope this helps. (This assumes you are using Windows).

 

I like the flying dragon on the soundboard and the Celtic scrolls on the headstock. Very nice stick dulcimer. Maybe I should try my hand at wood burning.
