Great stuff, glad the packs meet with approval :o)

We can only apologise to those of you who bought 'Boxstock' tickets aswell - we are still waiting for these from the venue, but if they dont appear within the next 48 hours, we'll send your packs out and forward the tickets as and when they land.

In other news, keep an eye over in the Home Grown Group for some more benefits.

Thanks to a kind chap donating a heap of parts, we'll be running regular auctions which only HGMC members will have access too. That means great value parts to you, plus all proceeds will be going right back into the Collective, so you can tell the Mrs you had to buy the parts, you had no choice. Just doing your bit etc etc.... (dont tell her it was my idea though, ok?).

For the more commercial amongst you, advertising space will soon be for sale at very reasonable rates too. Whether you build guitars, want to sell more cd's, tell folk about your upcoming gigs, or even want to advertise your 'real world' business, the Collective could be the place.

My financial manager (a.k.a my wife) just informed me we have enough money in the budget for me to join next month. So I've just signed up now pre-empting the budget allowance. Looking forward to getting my pack too, especially as I took my diddley bow into a local music shop and he said he'd like to stock some guitars if I made any more......

Did you tell your wife about this?...the floorshow for Boxstock...the Khalgani dancers. I've got my work cut out organising the music for them...it's going to be really cooI I reckon. The dance troupe is led by Dawn O' Brien, who came to the fest last year, so she knows what we are all about. They were performing at last year's BirminghamArtsFest when Hollowbelly played the CBSO centre, and were on before him..we didn't catch their spot, but they saw Hollowbelly, and came along to the CBG fest in the strength of it....I think it's a great thing to be able to add into the mix.  I've got it on my work-list to make a 7 string electric Turkish Saz for the very occasion..and I've got a Turkish Delight box set aside for it.. see, it's not just about cigar box guitars!

Absolutely not....we've got dancers! Don't worry, this is not your 'gentlemen's club' sort of nonsense...if you check out the work Dawn & Khalgani do, you'll see there's lots of different events and styles that they cover, from family community events to goth fests. As I say, Dawn, the leader of the dance troupe, was at last year's Fest, so she knows what the vibe of the CBG scene is.  

 

I remember her being in your's & Hollowbelly's workshops last year (as well as being a dancer she's plays guitar). I'd been exploring some eastern sort of vibe with my music, and I asked Dawn if she'd got any local musical contacts to help me...the idea to combine live music and dance emerged as a possibility and seemed like an interesting avenue to explore. so this is a great opportunity to do something innovative and fun. I've got a few ideas on how we fit the dance to the music..but there's plenty of time to organise the choreography yet...I already have my contacts working on it...but any offers or ideas are more than welcome.

CBGs, exotic dancers, I think I've died and gone to heaven. It could only get better if there was free beer as well. Now there's an idea!

Its eclectic/random and a little bit mental and runs with the no rules thing I feel should be encouraged/fostered.

Got my pack btw-great stuff.
