OK guys shall we post anyhting to do with a UK event this year in this discussion thread so we can easily find it? Chickenbone John has started the ball rolling with his offer of hosting a one day event in Birmingham. Let us know if you are up for it and any ideas you have.

All being well I am definitely up for it. This would be a great buzz and maybe the start of an ongoing thing. There's enough of us here now to make it worthwhile, we just need some commitment and participation.

Yep!! Count me in!!
Can also offer lifts for anyone in East Yorkshire area (ish!).
Il do my best! Unfortunately I have a bed n breakfast and the 6 weeks of summer is the only time I actually make any money! However, with enough notice I reckon I can get someone to cover for a day or 2 - I would hate to miss meeting all you guys and spending a few days talking CBGs to people who are actually interested!! lol
Hi guys, just trying to confirm a date with my venue..but we are looking at a Saturday daytime meetup /forum/playing & building workshop, early curryhouse or pub supper..followed by a slide-tastic evening gig with Hollowbelly plus support / open mic. Hows that sounding?

We want to keep this simple but value-packed, without having the expense of having to have an over-night stop for those travelling a-ways (I know it may mean a long hard day for some....). I'll get back to y'all as soon as I can confirm a date & prices...hopefully this is going to take place before the main summer hols. rather than after.

Mr Chickenbone
im most defanatly up for attending an event,,just not sure about on the 20th as its my daughters bday party..not sure the wife would be too happy,,i also think a bit more time may give us more chance to organise things image and publicity wise,,and for us builders to get our shit together,,,,lol...but it is a great idea and if i can be of any help give us a shout,,,cheers jay
My daughters birthday too, I'm with Jasus and would prefer a later date
cheers, Boozy
I'm thinking that June 20th will be here in a flash and maybe won't give everyone time to prepare fully. Maybe build some more stuff to bring, show, maybe sell or swap stuff. Brush up on playing skills etc. I'd prefer a later date personally but I'd still make the effort to come in June if necessary.

Giving it some thought/ideas for the day. Obviously we can't do everything in the time given but you can break it down into probably three areas of interest. First I'm sure everyone just wants to meet each other and see/play each other's guitars etc. That could take a couple hours easy. The other two areas are building and playing. Workshops are a great idea but I'm wondering if these should be split into two groups. Beginners and more advanced. We need input from everyone as to what they would like from the day. Thanks for your initiatives John.

David
The reason I picked a date in June is that it's before the summer holidays, and I thought that if it was to be later, then we'd loose the initiative, as realistically it would have to go to September. As for making guitars, I sort of understand, but it's 6 weeks away...how long does it take to screw a stick to a box?!! If the concensus is that it should be later I need to get this sorted in order to re-arrange the venue and headline.

Regarding workshops, in particular players' workshops, if the group is big enough, it's easy to split by ability/experience, but most guitar workshops that I've organised cater for all abilities in the same group...it's surprising how well this works.
Hey Guy's
Dont know about you guy's but i'm buzzing over this possible venue , cant wait to meet you all , it's good talking online and all that , but would be great to meet at last share a drink or two oh and some ideas lol!!

i'm happy with any date but if people ain't gonna be able to make the june date , i would rather we had the september date when we can all meet and have more time to organize ourselves ,if i'm gonna be playing anything i need lots of practice first lol!!

juju.
it bothers me if 2 guys cant make it-I mean-it WAS Boozys idea-plus I wanna have a go on Jasus' coke cbg-heh heh heh! a change of date doesn't bother me personally..
Do we want to push this back a week or two ...or 2 or 3 of months? Any input gratefully received...
hi john,,,i would realy apreciate it if could be held back a while,,,i think it will be better for people to have more time to organize,,and get the word out there.if we have enough time we can let more people know about this and get a real buzz going..maybee we could get tinqui8 over from france to play, possibly sick sea steve?..i think its an awsum idea and i would hate too miss the first of im sure many of these cbg fests....all the best jay
I also think there would be benefits from a later date as Jasus said, give more time to get the word around etc and make plans for a cracking gig
