I am in the process of Installing Frets and markers on a CBG , nickel frets with walnut markers on a white oak neck. Should I use Super Glue , Super Glue Gel, or tite bond wood glue. I will finish with Tru Oil on this one. The fret wire fits ok, but it does not need to be Hammered in place. I am thinking Super Glue Gel for frets to eliminate finish issues with glue run out.
Thanks

hi Scott

Believe it or not, I "TRY" not to use any glue. I found a small thin kerf Japanese saw to cut the fret slots, then i use a strip of mood over the frets and crank down with a quick release clamp. So far so good...on occasion, i;ll get a recalcitrant fret that refuses to sit, then I use a bit of super glue. Good luck buddy!

I use a pinhead-size drop of Gorilla Glue for the marker dots, Clamp tight to keep expanding glue from pushing your dot up and out.

I almost always tap in the frets. Occasionally I'll have a problem fret and I'll used superglue. I have used some alternative materials, such as small nails and jewelry wire, on some builds and I used superglue for them.

For dot markers, I use a small dot of superglue.

Shouldn't have to glue in frets, but if I had to, I would use small amount of a weak superglue. Because if you need to re-fret, you don't want destroy the board.

Would use original Titebond or Elmers Wood glue on wood parts.

OK, any suggestions for me as I'm going to be using some 6d nails that I have laying around, so I'm going to have to glue them.

I have found my way to gel super glue for 6D nail frets.

Before getting here I tried Super Glue, Titebond II and Elmers Pro. Unlike these others, the Gel has performed flawlessly.

Thanks to all. The frets actually ended up tighter than I thought they were going to. My test cuts seemed loose, but I was able to tap the frets in when I installed them. I did add a drop of super glue to the ends, in the saw kerf and let it seep in just in case. Used plain old tite bond on the fret markers and all is well. First coat of Tru Oil on.

Thanks, just did 2nd coat looks pretty good.

Regular super glue eb will "wick" under fret for better hold. Just don't over do it.
