On the Saturday of the August Bank Holiday (August 24th) our local cricket club is holding a mini beer fest, marquee, burgers, beer etc. If anyone fancies playing in the marquee (beer tent!) during the afternoon and moving into the pavilion for an evening session (some other band with 'bought' guits will be 'on' outside) I'd love to hear from you.
Hope there's no other event going on close by, let me know if it will tread on any toes!
Could arrange camping/floor space etc, but if Seasick Steve could make it, he'd get my room!
I'm really not into what PA system would be needed or even how to organise this sort of thing but I'm sure there is some good advice out there. You know who you are!
Cheer folks,
Bri

Cheers Bri, do you know if there'll be a drumkit we can borrow (just bring breakables) or if we'll need to bring our kit?
Don't know is the answer, Stu. The band in the evening will have drums but I do not know them and they could be quite protective about them! Leave it with me and I'll see what I can do.
B-)
Hi Pete,
All you need to do is turn up. No hidden charges and, looking at you pic, lager will also be available ;-)
Bri.
Hi Bob,
No problem, yer in! Me and the good lady are trying a couple of songs which will be our first gig too. Scary, but it's gotta be done. Because it's a cbg/beer fest, not many folk will know about the background of our obsession, so it would be good if players could add a few facts. Because my wife's a fiddler, I think our first song will be 'Sugar Hill', (see my Ben Prestage vid) on her whisky box fiddle, it's a cut down Fortnum & Mason Champagne box actually, but don't tell anyone! The song was from the 1860s, around the time of a woodcut of a soldier sat outside his tent with a fiddle, so it starts the story quite nicely.
Looking forward to next year already. There is cbg life in the south!
Cheers,
Brian
Bob,
Liking the sound of your set. I've added your name to the poster and will put it up again in about a week when things are a little more final. If you fancy coming over before the event to familiarise/sound check etc just let me know. Cheers, Brian
Hi Brian any luck with finding B&B ? , I looked at the White House it's a way out of the village looking for something nearer village so we can have a meal in the evening my wife has a bad leg so not to good at walking at the moment .
Hi Grant, I'll check out our local paper shop tmo. If anyone knows, they will!
Hi Grant,
The local newsagent/post office proved fruitless. Moved away and retired were two reasons. I'll keep on the case, but it doesn't look too good! Cheers, Brian
Ok Brian thanks for that .
sounds good Bob, do the simplest easiest songs you can for your first show, first time i played i could hardly hear my own voice, guitar kept going out of tune and i forgot all my words....that's showbiz! (-;
well i still won't hear my own voice, guitar will still need tuning during my set and i still can't remember my words but what the 'eck...good company and a chance to make loud noises....heaven! (-:
