Hi,
Has anyone got a Photo (real picture not a diagram) of wiring just for a single guitar pick up and volume?????
got myself a session pro guitar (Strat type) for £15 Quid so i want to use one of the pick ups on my next build and use the other 2 for other future builds.
But i know nowt about wiring or understand them diagrams so any help would be grateful.

Hi, The seymour Duncan website is great for wiring diagrams that are easy to follow.
http://www.seymourduncan.com/support/wiring-diagrams/ From it is this showing what you want

Earthing the guitar means running a wire from the bridge to the pot used a a common ground so you have earthed the strings. I find the diagram easier to follow than a photo. Regards, David
So its the strings that need earthing then ?????? So could you stick the earth wire anywhere on the box then ?? or do i need to use the metal bridge from the old strat ??? cause i really didnt want to. i wanted to make my own out of wood. mmmmm so what would happen if you just wired up the pickup to the jack with no volume etc ??

Hi, Yes it is the strings that need earthing otherwise you get a hum or buzzing. It is easiest to ground it at the bridge or tail piece if the guitar has one. If you want to make a wooden bridge you could add a strip of metal for the strings to pass through leaving the ball end of the string in contact with it and then ground the metal strip. An alternative is to use a metal tailpiece and ground that. Here for a resonator I used the bridge plate from an old strat

To add an earth wire I just coiled the stripped end of some wire under it and then connected the other end to a volume pot that in turn went to the ground (earth) lug of the output socket. Regards, David
Thanks David, I understand now .... cheers Soul

Hi, I had the same problem and Ted C kindly helped me out by marking up some pics of my kit. I hope I am uploading them here cos I've never tried before

If I use a metal biscuit or lunch box, and mount the pot and jack into the tin directly, do I need to isolate any part and ground any other or can I just wire them all together and let them all ground directly to the body.
