Well, I've finally got around to another build. In 1960 I was building accoustic guitars from scratch using plywood packing cases and scrap wood. They sounded OK (I think) but I was only 13yrs old,and any guitar was great. Then I came across a Hofner archtop in a second hand shop, and my builds suddenly didn't seem so good. I've still got the Hofner, and recently I came across the Homegrown Music site and thought "that seems like a good idea again"
I decided to start with a refurbishment project and since I've always wanted a resonator I decided that was the way to go.
It started with an old Kay parlour guitar, which had seen better days...Back hanging off, tuners seized solid with rust, front buckled etc you know the sort of thing,
For a resonator I found an old aluminium jelly mould, with a centre section, and with a sink drainer as a biscuit and a bolt as bridge,I was off.

More to follow when my broadband decides to get back up to speed!
So here it is, standard neck pup with vol and tone, twin piezo (1 in the biscuit and 1 at the bottom of the resonator) with a vol.
Loads of sink drainers as soundholes.I thought about a cover for the resonator but it looks ok as it is.
Plays fine in standard guitar tuning up to the 7th fret, but then the action gets a bit high. Great as a slide guitar.
Quite loud accoustically, so the resonator works!
Nice and twangy with the piezos and earsplitting with both pups on.
Got the bug now....amassing parts for the next one!!!

Thought ya might want ta see my Dobro (built by Keith).Similar in places ta your build. Maybe use yours as a dobro too , if action high, as you say.Just a thought. Hope ya enjoy vid, sleepy (show to Dozy, et al! ) ;)
Nice one Jamie, never tried playing Lap-style, but will give it a go.
Cheers, Mr Sleepy. Not hard to adapt to "flat" guitar, as ah call it, lol. But 99 times out of 100, ah prefer it upright! (maybe ah could have phrased that better, Sleepy, ma man!! lol)
Don't have any means of recording, but will get someone to video a gig (but its not till Oct, so you'll have to be patient!!! LOL
