Here's a real short clip to see if anybody's interested in collaborating with a total dummy. I don't know how to play at all I just make up stuff that I think sounds okay. This thing I did on a three string box that I built has sort of a country feel, I played it lap dobro style with a bar. This is just a sample, I can redo it, make it longer or change it up a bit and maybe someone with a more talent than I got might be able to do something with it.

I told you I was dummy, I forgot the data folder.

Warren, you need to upload a zipefile of the 'test_data' folder, too: the .aup file contains only "mastering information" for the project, but not any of the actual sound sample files.
I did upload that in my reply. I need something else?

Warren, that is a beautiful start for a song. I think I hear that as the first of several versus: maybe there is a bridge later?

Anyway, a couple of things that will make collaborating easier:

  • What tuning are you using for your CBG?
  • It will help others synchronize with you if you add a couple of measures of "count off" at the start: if your CBG uses a piezo, you can just tap the face, say like 1-2-3-4-1-2-3-4 to set the beat up. For your track, that would likely be 1-2-3-4-1-2-3, since you start on the "pickup" ahead of what feels like the first beat.
  • Do you have a "beats-per-minute" number in mind, or are you just feeling it out? If you have the number, then you can have Audacity generate a "click track" for that rate and as many measures as you need. The click track can stay in the project, mostly muted, right up to the final mixdown.
  • The input levels were high enough to cause a bit of clipping on my box during playback. If you can drop the level just slightly at the source, that will help us avoid distortion during mixing. Alternately, we can run the "amplifier" effect afterwards to drop the peaks a bit.

I have a couple of ideas to maybe add: a "drone-ish" CBG bassline, maybe a simple drum pattern, too.
I agree with, your idea for adding a "Drone-ish" sound. I was thinking a dulcimer would sound keen. Perhaps a D-bow... but what this song REALLY needs is a saw whistling in the background.

I agree w/ everything you said Tres, and I too, want to hear much more of this song. The clip we have is beautiful, but alas, too short. Care to lay more down Warren?

Hi Warren.

I try make your beautiful sound little longer, so i cut end little and copy 2 x 2 times so it is now about 2 min. long now, merged not going well , i think, check it.

This audacity program is new to me, so i need more and more practice...
I have an idea for some lyrics, might play around with it in a bit
All great ideas and very helpful thank you. I'm going to re-record this later when I get a chance. Maybe tonight or tomorrow. Thanks again.
