Hey y'all - UK newbie
Hey! I'm Holly, and I'm brand new to the world of cigar box guitars!
Been playing various instruments for years and I'm currently building a Les Paul copy from a kit, which so far has been fun, but very, very, almost obnoxiously easy, and aside from the colour and hardware, there's not much creative freedom to it.
I've been trawling through various CBG sites and am determined to make my own. I just can't decide if I should go the DIY kit route, or take the plunge and go from scratch...
I'm leaning towards the from scratch option, but I don't want to end up in over my head right away!
Anyway, (hopefully) attached is a very low quality mockup of the sort of thing I'd like to make eventually - I'll almost certainly try the simplest form possible first! I think the headstock needs a cut away on the top corner to better fit the tuners, but I'll see how things go.

Welcome to the addiction keeping it simple is the best way to go buy building your own you may come up with something like this one anyway good luck.

Hi Holly, welcome aboard. I advise you to take the plunge. For a helping hand, Glen Watt has a bunch of outstanding YouTube videos on how to build CBGs from scratch. He even provides lists of tools needed to complete the task he's demonstrating. The rest is up to you. The key to building from scratch is, don't rush it. It's not a race. Take your time and enjoy the learning process. Don't be afraid to ask questions if you get stuck. Avoid taking short cuts. Start the build only when you've sourced and collected all the tools and materials you need. Follow these simple guides and you'll be fine - good luck and have fun!

After accidentally creating a bunch of different plans, I'm definitely thinking from scratch is the way to go.
The way I figure it, how wrong can it possibly go!?
