WELCOME! Anyone is more than welcome to join! This is a place for all Arizona CBG builders/players to get together! I am hoping we can all get to know each other and maybe start something local here in AZ, be it a once a month jam, or what ever!

As far as I can tell, there are no CBG events and or meetings here in the southwest! Them pesky East Coasters have it too good! LOL (I am from Boston, put them snow balls down ye from the east coast)…Continue

I am a harmonica player, flute player and also make flutes and other simple instruments. I live in Mesa and know Kieth Stanford from his online flute postings. I don't travel much now but do like the idea of getting something going in AZ. Summer in the White Mountains, Prescott or Flagstaff and winter in Tucson or Phoenix. We could put on a great show with lots of talent as AZ has a great Blues, Jazz, Country and more in music going on already. I love both the making of instruments and most music. I have yet to make a guitar but have made dulcimer, birimbau, mouthbow, dijeridoo and other od instruments. I repaired drums at The MIM for about 6 months as a volunteer. I do look forward to getting to know more of you by these postings.
Hey everyone,
I am down in Tucson as well. I am a beginning player, and I'm in the middle of my first build as well. It would be really cool to get an AZ CBG gathering started up. Or are there any that I am unaware of?
Howdy Larry - I live down in Tucson, so maybe we can hook up sometime. Sounds like you hve quuite the extensive background as a luthier. That should help with your CBG builds, but don't 'over-think' them. Keep them simple and you will enjoy backing them and playing them more. They ARE SUPPOSED to look hillbilly and piezo gives it that hillbilly sound.
Most important....save yourself a boat-load of time and aggravation by getting Mordacai's book that we all use at www.GittyMan.com
You probably have seen lots of chatter about it on the other forums.
Best of luck to you amigo....

Looking for members near Peoria, AZ area. New to CBG's but have built quite a few acoustic guitars since I've retired. All of my kids play Guitar and multiple instruments, THEY DIDN'T GET ANY OF THEIR TALENT FROM ME. Wood I know, music not so much. Since starting to build cbg's in March I've made 6 so far, 2-4 string and 4-3 string, and have had a lot of fun so far. If anyone out there would like to share their passion you could Email me at larryputtmann@gmail.com. Hope to here from you!
Howdy Harley,
There is a fellow up in Prescott by the name of Rick McKeon who gives lessons for the 3-string CBG. He also has instructions on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPWukJBxCLU
If you make the trip up there to see him, please let us know how it turned out for you.
Also, I understand that Mordacai Bondurant will be having a really basic video coming out soon on playing a song on the CBG. Have you visited his site yet? www.GittyMan.com
Kind regards,
kieta
