I'm modifying a 3 string dog dish resonater to a 4 string. Does that count.
What do you find most interesting about cigar box guitars? (If you do not enter something meaningful here (at least one sentence long), your membership may be rejected as a spam/bot fake account).
I;m a model ship builder who plays acoustic guitar, it just fits to make one with my model building experience. I don't know how to do a profile photo. I have one on facebook though
Hi Gordon,Photo of one under construction. You can see how the top and bottom of the through neck is cut away to allow the back and front to vibrate. The neck is glued to the ends of the box and the back at each end.The top(I'm thinking of copper) of this one will be screwed on.
OMG, small world! I lived for almost 40 years in Arlington, MA. Or, as I like to say, Ahhlington. I've got pictures of yet another "cigar box" I'm working on in that theme. It still motivates me.
I have no idea how plastic will sound. If it surprises me, I could use a cheap piezo pickup.,I guess ironically?! If not it will be totally in character to have an electro-magnetic pickup. I might even be able to salvage original wiring!
On the upper right of the bottom half, you might see the melt marks which caused this to be retired from use as a UPS
