yeah Marcus, they can be modded...takes a careful approach, since the new holes have to be drilled directly below the adjustment screw holes...not much room. If you do try, I suggest removing all the other pieces (screws/saddles), and use some lubricating drill tapping oil. This will help a lot. Be sure to drill a hole big enough for the part of guitar string that is twisted around the round knock, but not (of course) larger than the knock. (knock= the round ferrule/ball end of string).
In my humble opinion, though, a through-body setup provides better sustain.
