heh canjo's...they probably helped get me started...i bought one from an old man on the side of the road about 8 years ago and got the itchin to build em myself but didnt know where to start, then back in august i came across CBG's and been runnin with it since.oh and finally built some canjo's too.
great work...keep it up!
Hey man, thanks for checking it out. That was my first CBG. I'm really happy with the way the pickup worked out. I love the bluegrass version too but was exploring my new slide and started picking it out all slow and dark. I like how it turned out. Not a fan of how some of my lyrics trail off and get lost and I think the reverb might be a bit heavy. Anyway...Thanks!
I purchased your Fretting Guide (I was buyer 'Philip Wilson', Louisville, KY) and finally got a chance to read through it this morning. This is going to be a big help. ILast year I built a standard standard uke and mandolin, and the fretting drove me crazy (they were uneven, kept popping out, etc.). I've started my 1st CBG, and I think your guide will make the fretting go much smoother.
Thanks, and you guys on the Nation are the best. You've created a great community here.
Wow Gitty! My fretwire order got here so fast that I didn't even have time to formulate my next excuse! I guess I'll have to get out to the shop now.
Thanks Ben. Great wire and great service.
JT
Hey Gitty, I am working on my 2nd build. I need some fret wire, but I don't know what kind to get for building CBGs, and tinjos. Would you suggest something that would work great? I want to buy the fret CD, too. I do know, I would like the gold frets which look really great. I don't know what size. I am very new at this---don't know why you would have different sizes.
Oh, how did you cut the bottom of the door pullers out? Thanks.
thanks for the interest in my first build, I'm going now to purchase some gold fret wire from your site, I also see one package has a CD, perfect for me.
C.B., how much is the gold jumbo fret wire? I would only use it for the zero fret. Yes, I am planning to use it for the future ones I build. Six feet might be too much; I don't think I need that much. Let me know. Thanks.
Hey C.B. i just placed my first order with you today, and can't wait to try out the piezos and input jacks. Just wondering if you ever plan on carrying volume pots? it would be great to be able to get those in the same place.
That sounds good. My son and I are building a cbg for him and he has his mind set on those skull tuners (none for me, thanks!) though the matte black ones sound interesting. Keep me posted, then.
I was about to call it a night when I noticed skull tuners were in! ordered a set right away. my boy will have a nice surprise when he comes over next week to work on his guit. thanks, ben.
Hello, Ben. I've been so busy, I haven't even been on this site in a while. The kids are building away. My classroom is loud and near to unmanageable, but it will all be worth it when we start to play. The kids are writing their own Blues songs now.
The only thing that could make it better is if I actually knew what I was doing.
December 20 for standard small First Class mail packages
December 21 for Priority Mail packages
December 15 for Parcel Post (really only applies to my cigar box guitars)
December 10 for shipments to Canada.
Now keep in mind that I can't 100% guarantee that the USPS won't lose something or misplace it. Last year around Christmas there were some shipping anamolies... but these are the dates they give so they are the ones I am putting forward.
Thanks Ben for the add, I am working up an order from you for my next builds, and am not sure what kind of fret wire or how much to order. I like the frets on my Epi LP, I think they are taller and for sure they are wider than the frets I got from back porch mojo, which are OK. I would like enough supplies for 2-3 instuments one being a dulcimer.
Hey Ben, I have the same pre-amp unit you supply, got it somewhere else, but I was wonderin' if you can cut the bar piezo down to size (1- 5/8in. maybe) and will I have to re-solder the end? What do you suggest cutting it with.
Thanks for saying hi, Ben. I've been putting some of those parts you sold me to good use! I'm almost done with my first build and am very impatient to finish it and start the next. I just hope I can settle down and stop rushing so I can improve the quality next time.

Hi Ben, I noted on my own status how much I appreciate the way you do business, but I doubt you saw it- so I'm telling you here, just to make sure you know. I don't order often or much at a time, but I know I can expect the same great service and speed that you give to your most prolific purchasers. That means a lot to me, and that's why you are one of my very favorite vendors, regardless of the type of merchandise.... and THE 'go to' CBG parts guy. Thanks again.
Good luck with taking over The Nation!!..btw bought a couple of your rod piezo's recently. I've used the first one and am really pleased with it. I may be back!!
I'm glad to hear that the new owner/operator of CBN is someone who performs and crafts like the rest of us. So does this mean we get discounts that we are members of CBN and we order supplies from you lol? Congrats and lets keep this train a rollin!
