These instruments can sound amazing, given their simple materials. I love to hand one to someone who already plays guitar, and see their reaction! CBGs = SMILES!

Hi there Gary, and yes, thats why i made the box,the copper ,and the croom can have a drop, but the Lynas ones are not that forgiving, and if i like it or not they tend to fall more then i want ,thats why!,The Vintage Tin was a old Fish takkle box from my past a way father(long time Ago) he made holes in the bottom and four on the side, that gave me the decision  to   use it, to turn it in to a beautyfull git, that maybee lives on for a other hondred years more! and thanks for the kind comments Greeetssszzz A.D.

Hi Gary, I'm not entirely au fait with using the internet on websites like Cigar Box Nation.  I just click on things and hope it works out. My wife has tried to explain the notion of friends online and I think I just about got it, but not sure if I'm typing this in the right box. Anyway, I really appreciated your comments on the riverbow and hope to be able to ask you a few questions on CBG construction. Loved the photographs on your page of everyone sitting around playing CBGs.

    Hi Gary,

Graduating from making diddley bows to CBGs. Quick question: the instructions on the silicon sealant I bought to encase a piezo pickup, as advised by many makers of CBGs, say, "sealant releases acetic acid on curing so do not use on acid-sensitive materials such as copper, brass. lead or steel." Have you ever heard of this being a problem?

    tHANKS gARY wILL dO!

hERE IS THE pLAYING PART WILL POST SOME MORE

  • Paul Craig

If your interested in my amp. Send me a message and we'll work something out.

  • Paul Craig

Will do. The amp runs on a 9volt battery or walwart. It has a nice clean tone that's similar to a Fender Champ, then it has the extra gain that can get very dirty.

It needs a good speaker though, I recommend a 6", 8", 10" or 12 " guitar speaker for best results. Jenson Mod speakers are good and not expensive. I use WGS - Warehouse Guitar Speakers, great speakers for the money. You can get a 8" for 41 dollars or a 10" for 49 dollars. The little speakers that CBGitty sell will work, but I don't know for how long. Never been a fan of small speakers so I might be biased on that. Haha

  • Michael Lohrengel

Gary, having watched you put all the work into #33, having seen it up close from start to finish and hearing you play it and seeing the smile from you when you realize what a great instrument you have constructed is very cool I really don't know if you realize how good your builds are becoming and what talent you have.  Thank you for being my mentor and for coming into Joe's in OKC in early February of this year.

  • Michael Lohrengel

    GW,

You busted my gut with that comment about termites and when I looked at the pic I could see what you were talking about in your humorous sarcastic funny ass manner - damn my friend no wonder i enjoy working with you so much in the CBG world.

  • Michael Lohrengel

Hi there Gary Me like you liking It! thanks appriciated!

  • Brian Thompson

Thanks for the friends request Gary, accepted with pleasure.

I've been involved with a national classic off road motorcycle club in the UK for many years and helped set up their internet forum, on which I was also a moderator for a long time.....Let me tell you that I've had more warmth and response in one day on this excellent site than in a long time on there.....and I've given blood, believe me......

I feel honoured to be a new member of this fine community...it's a breath a fresh air in a crazy world....

Thanks again Gary, delighted to swap a few lines with you today.

    Brian.

thanks Gary for the comments ,its a dutch cigar tin, from a old city near mine cald KAMPEN,the factory is gone ,the tin was from my dad, he used it for fisching gear, i safe it for a long time, but the other week i dicided to turn it in to a cigartin guitar its 3 string and it sounds pretty twangy on the lookout for a good tune to make a audio vid for play on the Nation,so more will come, on the little pictures if you zoom in there is a black &white of the people in the factory its the only picture i was able to find on the subject the stick is from france the flower piucture is from the name of the crubbery in latin, thanks again for asking Greeeeeettsszzz A.D.
