Sweet Leslies! I actually had a chance to take a free Leslie speaker complete with a tube amp from a local church but I turned it down because they needed money so I suggested that they ebay it.
  • dogfinger steve

  • ANDOMANDO,,also known as ANDY

Thanks Darren, ill give it a try..
  • George Yeager

Thanks Darren. This one is just strung up with a GFS "Wild Dog" pickup straight to the jack. no pots, capacitors, nothing. I thought it sounded good too. thanks again.
  • Laurie Lee Campbell

Thanks  Darren! ...will have to try that someday, just for fun..:-) I once marbled a 50s shelving unit with a 60s antiquing kit...a base cream colored enam paint allowed to dry, then the top coat was a tinted opaque clear enamel with a deep rose tint...used saran wrap crunched up and laid down on the wet top coat, when pulled off it made for a pretty cool marble effect....
  • Laurie Lee Campbell

like those as well as the old fashioned Zolotone (?) style paints, I've used those alot, spray can form/homedepot...they make an exterior use now too, pretty tuff stuff...
  • Laurie Lee Campbell

Thankyou kindly, Darren! appreciate the F'vite:-)
  • Mark Ayers

You are welcome. Can't wait to see what you come up with next.
  • Pinkie Stanley

Thank you for the link to your cigar box reso video. I absolutely love that tone! I've never encountered a three-stringer with four strings before, but I think I'm hooked. Looking forward to building my first reso pretty soon too. Thank you for the great inspiration! :)

    ~Pinkie

  • Pinkie Stanley

Hi Darren, thank you for the info on the strings. Thank you for pointing me in the direction of your YT channel too, you have some great videos there! Thanks again... :)

  • Uncle John

You are welcome, Darren. I love to look at your builds and hear your fine playing.

And thanks for the compliment on my Jack Daniels tin build.  It's pretty, but not me.  What suits me is my homely relic looking 3 strings - ( the ones that play and sound good).

  • ANDOMANDO,,also known as ANDY

Thanks for the info Darren,it is most helpful..
  • smokin' axe

    Thanks Darren!
  • Barry "Backwater Jack" Nova

    Hi Darren.

Thanks for the friend request. I look forward to seeing 119 and future instruments when you have the photos.

    All the best.

    John

  • Roadkill a.k.a. John Maw

Wow. 119 is a beauty. Lovely clean lines and wonderful colour scheme. Thanks for passing it on.
  • Bama Jelley

cool. I found a good closeup pic of a similar one on the net. I will try to make a cardboard stencil from that. I will let you know how it goes. If you notice me copying little pieces of your designs, I hope you are flattered and not offended. I don't sell CBGs so I am no competition to you. Just love your stuff man.
  • Penny Nelson

ooops - so sorry about that... please forgive. So tell me about your pick-ups n where do you sell them through and how much....and where can I see them online.
  • Penny Nelson

Thanks for the link. Yeah I have been looking at making pick ups and its doing my head in a bit. How any windes do you do? Do you make humbuckers as well as single coils?
  • Roadkill a.k.a. John Maw

Thanks Darren. A double neck is better than a double chin any time.
  • Craig bluesbox williams

Cool. it looks great. i may dabble in that techinque in the future.
  • Gadsden Guitars

Hey man, BeStillroy thought you might know what I've got here. Check it out and see if you can help me out.

  • Gadsden Guitars

Also, it has a stamp under the f-hole "Apr 1939". Any ideas?
  • Gadsden Guitars

Sheeesh Darren, that link you provided me is immense. I've looked at almost half the guitars listed and still can't pinpoint what I've got. mine had been set up with a top and bottom pickgaurd, whatever. I'm putting a flat Braz Rosewood fretboard on it with bullet shell casing fretmarkers and a humbucker off the neck, I also order a turtloid pickgaurd and probably will be finishing it in sunburst and a new trapese tailpiece. It's gonna be kickass. Thanks for your help dude.
  • Uncle John

Well Darren, it makes me feel better that you, certainly among the top very few builders has to do redos.   I have a bunch of 'improvements' to make on several gits before I really jump into the next new one.
  • Roadkill a.k.a. John Maw

Another question if I may. On the five stringer, did you do anything to strengthen the neck? It doesn't look laminated. If not, what wood did you use?

    All the best.

    John

  • Roadkill a.k.a. John Maw

    Hi Darren.

I'm not surprised to hear that. He is really a wonderful player.

    Hi Darren,

your pickups are nice like all your buildings... for the moment have not time enough to build my guitars and try out my own pickups... but your work is very interesting... I ve some rail humbucker projects too...
