AGP #527 - ''Led-Zep 2''

AGP #527 – “Led-Zep 2” 3 String Fretless Tin Sign Guitar Scale : 628.65mm / 24¾” Strings : .036NW / .024NW / .017NW / Tuned: B F# b This is the third one of seven 8” x 10” Tin/Aluminium Printed Signs I recently purchased on Temu & Ebay (3 down 4 to go). The Box Body Sides & Bottom are recycled 19mm Radiata Pine, the Neck is recycled Radiata Pine, all timber was given the Japanese ‘Shou Sugi Ban’ treatment with the Propane Torch, and then given 3 Coats of Brushed on Shellac. A 4.2k Single Coil Pickup is Wired through a Vol & Tone Unit (which came with a recently purchased Foil Type Pickup) to the Output Jack. PS. This Build was one of those that came with a number of problems: ;-{ (1) I originally I wanted to do the ‘Shou Sugi Ban’ with a White underlay, but the wood grain was too fine to get a decent result, and the recycled Neck was absolutely full of Sap. (2) Originally had it strung with .032NW .024NW 16PS Strings and Tuned D G B, but sounded like Crap and very Boomy, thought it might have needed Sound Holes, so then added them, but made no difference. (3) Then Strung it with .048NW .32NW .021NW and Tuned it to G D G, but it also sounded like Crap, very Bassy & Boomy, finally Strung it with .036NW .024NW .017NW and Tuned it B F# b, which now sounds OK, I’m beginning to think these Tin Sign Builds are better suited to Lighter Strings. (4) And last, but not least, when it came time to take some Pics of the Build, I couldn’t use my usual method of outside, with a Flag on my Workout Bench, because there has been constant on and off “Bloody” Rain since Xmas, still “Bloody” well Raining now, and was just informed that it has been Raining for the last 21 Days, and doesn’t look like stopping anytime soon, the Front and Back Yards are complete Bog Holes. (5) “Rant Over” (for now) :-D

"Thanks Doug", these Problematic Builds do pop up every now and then, but a bit of perseverance and patience usually solves the problem :-D
